Job Description

We are looking for a Front-end Engineer for Design Systems to join our Team at Adevinta Spain.

Working with DesignOps, as a Frontend Engineer, you will focus on the development and maintenance of our Design System, mainly React Components, and the tools to visualise and share the guidelines and best practices for our product that includes components for all the brands in the company.

Although the main focus / weight of the role is coding and styling React Components, the responsibilities include improving the tools, the developer / design workflow and collaboration process.

The Design tools ecosystem is growing bigger, and it’s expected from the role to help to close the gap between Dev and UX.

A solid professional background and experience in the field are important, but the ideal candidate should also be a real team player.

The main users of the System are Developers and UX Designers embedded in product teams. You will be working really closely with them, and with the DesignOperations PM of the DesignSystem, so you’ll need to feel comfortable discussing technical and product challenges while proposing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Working with DesignOps, and together with the Development and UX Teams, you will be responsible for :

  • Be the principal Developer of our Design System at Adevinta Spain. Code, maintain and coordinate the evolution of the current components with React.js
  • Evangelize and promote the usage of our components.
  • With the help of other Developers, Enablers and DesignOps, identify, monitor, and report on the design system use across the company.
  • Collaborate with Developers and UX designers embedded on the product teams on the definition, evolution and maintenance of the components for all our brands.
  • Help to define strategic initiatives to improve the code, the examples, the guidelines, processes, tools, infrastructure, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with DesignOperations on the evolution and optimization of the documentation process, and identifying improvement opportunities on the collaboration between Designers and Developers.
  • Use software processes to ensure the quality of the code.
  • Special focus on performance.
  • Code review by Pull Request.
  • Foster consistency and support developers in the implementation of the components.
  • Help improving the current design tools to be integrated into the Design / Development workflow.
  • Qualifications

  • 5+ years professional Front-end Development experience
  • You have led, built, and / or maintained a design system before.
  • Degree in Development, related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • APIs HTML5
  • Web Components
  • React.js
  • Testing en Javascript
  • Node.js
  • Javascript Preprocessors
  • Git from the console
  • Process Automation
  • Web Performance Optimization & Tools
  • Webpack
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate independently
  • Solid leadership skills and the ability to develop strong partnerships (the role requires high collaboration with Designers and Developers)
  • Ability to work closely with DesignOperations in order to detect needs
  • Used to work agile, or lean and in a highly collaborative environment with other ux designers, researchers, visual designers, product owners and engineers.
  • Passion for digital products, technology, creativity and an openness to new development and design ideas
  • UX design experience is a plus
  • Design and prototyping tools experience is a plus (sketch, Invision, Flinto, Principle, Zeplin, etc)
  • Experience working in a distributed team, operating with different brands will be a plus.
