The main objective of the fellowship will be to exploit some of the most recent advances in sleep research to develop interventions based on cutting-edge neurotechnology for sleep (and sleep-mediated cognitive processes) improvement.
The candidate will join Bitbrain’s interdisciplinary R&D department of applied neuroscience and neurotechnology and will lead all the R&D activities in sleep quality and improvement.
The candidate will have to : 1) design the R&D strategy of this new area in the company, which will require attending and participating in international events and networks, and 2) design and carry out a feasibility study in sleep improvement using innovative and practical technologies that can be used outside the lab.
The project will be carried out in Bitbrain (Zaragoza, Spain), in an interdisciplinary R&D department, and in collaboration with expert sleep researchers worldwide.
Bitbrain is a neurotechnology company whose mission is to bring neurotechnology closer to society. The project, under the CSA Innovation Action framework, includes attendance at two international congresses related to Sleep and Brain Stimulation and an international workshop related to these topics.
This position is part of the INNOSUP call from the EC H2020 program. The position is initially offered for 12 months and includes a relocation and training package.
Main activities : Design and implementation of a feasibility study that includes a sleep research study with cutting-edge neurotechnology for sleep quality improvement.
Design of the sleep innovation program. This includes the design of the program, taking into account the ecosystem and capabilities of Bitbrain, and the outcome of the feasibility study.
Leadership of the integration of sleep quality assessment or enhancement into all the human enhancement projects of the company.
Participation in the writing of Bitbrain’s private / public grant proposals for human enhancement that include sleep quality assessment or enhancement.
Participation in the writing of research papers or patents that derive from the feasibility study.
Requirements : Sleep expert with a degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering or similar. Strong background in sleep research (preferably in sleep improvement).
Understanding of EEG (required) and brain stimulation TDCS, desirable) for sleep research. Strong background on the design and implementation of sleep research studies.
Deep understanding of data analysis for EEG / TDCS and sleep quality assessment tools. Project management skills. Problem solving and potential of growth.
Advanced English skills in reading, writing and speaking (Spanish is a plus). Good communications skills to interact internally and externally.
