This position will be located in Glasgow and will report to the DPO, Europe. The successful candidate will work closely with the International Privacy Office in relation to the implementation and effective delivery of business-
wide data privacy strategy set out in the International Privacy Program across the multiple business units located throughout Europe.
Build relationships with and work closely with key internal stakeholders (including local international legal and compliance teams, local international operational units, and local and corporate resources including, U.
S. Privacy Office, legal, IT, Information Protection, Internal Audit, Supply Chain Management, etc, and also with external bodies such as DPAs, to achieve the goals of the International Privacy Office;
Maintain current knowledge of applicable data protection / privacy laws and regulations, and monitor advancements in data privacy best practices to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance;
Serve as regional support resource / data privacy consultant, working with individual privacy officers in each location to ensure effective local privacy programs within the region;
Provide high quality support on data privacy matters and concise and easily understandable advice and applicable solutions on complex data protection matters, including data subject access requests, data privacy impact assessments, contractual matters and incident response matters;
Advise on and lead on the development of and implementation of policies and best practices to ensure that data privacy principles are implemented across the business units;
Work closely with Information Security and other internal key stakeholders on addressing information security issues, including responses to security incidents;
Perform initial and periodic information privacy risk assessments and conduct related ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with the company’s other compliance and operational assessment functions;
Oversee, direct, deliver, or ensure delivery of data privacy training to all employees and appropriate third parties;
Legal qualification (5-7 years PQE), or equivalent
Minimum 5 years' experience of current data protection legislation (Data Protection Act 1998) and General Data Protection Regulation
Minimum of 2 years of previous insurance experience preferred
Previous DP experience within a regulated environment desirable
Experience working with information protection resources / IT functions is a plus
Recognised data protection qualification such as Cert. DP, ISEB or CIPP / E desirable
Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize effectively in a high paced environment
Strong analytical, planning, and problem solving skills; strong decision making capabilities and ability to identify problems and propose creative and effective solutions
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to speak multiple European languages is a plus
Ability to work confidently within groups in a multi-cultural environment and respond to global / cultural sensitivities
