Brief Description

The primary role of a Solution Engineer is to work in a pre-sales capacity and to take the lead in the early and accurate definition of customer solutions, associated architectures, strategic roadmaps with focus on Oracle Technology solutions.

Successful Solution Engineer will have a strong understanding of how technology can solve business issues , reducing risk, increasing value to the customer.

The Solution Engineer will have a consultative style and is focused on revenue . Solution Engineer is taking the initiative to ensure that Oracle wins the technology decision.

The Solution Engineer will be part of the EMEA international SE team focusing on Portuguese speaking countries across region (Africa) serving the following main responsibilities :

  • Has a level of understanding across the breadth of Oracle's technology products
  • Contributes to the achievement of revenue targets .
  • Interacts with the external customers across different sectors remotly and face to face.
  • Has a strong drive for innovation.
  • Responsibilities

  • Presenting Oracle Solutions and Architectures in front of the customers and key decision makers
  • Has a strong drive for innovation, i.e. can propose innovative out of the box scenarios and use cases combining his technical and industry knowledge
  • Building and maintaining relationships at all relevant levels within the client including C-Level people
  • Working in a close alignment with account teams to discover and exploit opportunities for cross and up selling
  • Owning the definition and integrity of the solution architecture
  • Understanding and representing business strategy (business objectives, business drivers, business relationships, key performance indicators, industry drivers etc.)
  • Advising customers on Oracle Reference Architectures including Cloud and how they can transition toward it
  • Advising customers on how Oracle is positioned relative to the competition on key IT issues
  • Balancing clients’ needs and protecting Oracle commercial needs
  • Job Requirements

  • 5+ years practical experience designing and building technology solutions
  • Base IT knowledge : Overall knowledge distributed among the following domains : Databases, Security, Middleware and Cloud Computing Overall understanding of the HW principles
  • Core : Strong knowledge of Oracle Databases Hands-on knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts, reporting and analytics solutions Good knowledge of Data Integration solutions (ETL / ELT, real time) Desired Hands on experience around Machine Learning, AI, Big Data Solid knowledge of the latest technology trends in data management
  • Good presentations skills and business acumen

  • Inter-personal : Building Effective Relationships, Customer Focus, Effective Communication
  • Detailed Description and Job Requirements

    The primary focus of a Sales Consultant (Pre-sales) is to become an expert in a core set of Oracle products and solutions and to present the value proposition and benefits of our solutions to our partners, prospects and customers and internally to our sales force

    As a Senior Sales Consultant you will be responsible for providing presales technical / functional support to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction with minimal supervision, through on-line / in person sales efforts.

    Acts as a technical resource for less experienced Internet Sales Consultants. Develop and deliver high quality standard Oracle presentations and demonstrations.

    Present and articulate advanced product features and benefits, product future direction and overall Oracle solutions. Design, validate, and present Oracle software solutions to include advanced product concepts, future direction, and 3rd party complimentary products.

    Develop and manage reference sites through high quality technical, professional client relationships. Support sales team in online / in-person selling efforts with minimal supervision.

    Develop and deliver proposed solution to customers. Approximate percentage of face to face interaction with customers to perform responsibilities is 10%

    Job duties are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience.

    5 years relevant computer applications or database / tools. Demonstrated proficiency in one multi-user operating system.

    Through knowledge of system and application design. Strong verbal and written communication skills : needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques.

    Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with accounts in complex technical environments. Ability to travel as needed.

    BS degree or equivalent; advanced degree desirable.
