    Job Description

    In the build-up of our external financial group reporting function we are seeking a group accounting policies manager to join our group finance team.

    You will own all IFRS compliance matters for the group such as setting accounting policies, drive implementation of new standards and providing accounting guidance to business partners and thereby be a key player to ensure a true and fair view of group financial reporting in compliance with IFRS.

    The position will be based in Barcelona and reporting into the group accounting manager.

    Responsibilities

    Owning all IFRS compliance matters across the group

    Setting and maintaining up to date IFRS accounting policies and chart of accounts for the group

    Provide IFRS accounting guidance and training to group financial controlling team and finance teams in subsidiaries

    Assessing, documenting and resolving the accounting impacts of significant and complex transactions to ensure compliance with IFRS

    Drive the development of the group's external financial reporting from an IFRS compliance perspective through :

    Following developments from IFRS accounting standard setters, assess impact on the group and recommend accounting policies and disclosure improvements

    Lead the implementation of new group accounting policies and disclosure improvements across the group

    Assess and drive changes to the content of the group's external financial reporting in response to changes in regulatory and legal requirements, and business developments

    Own the templates and review interim and annual external group financial reporting in order to insure IFRS compliance

    Draft presentations related to accounting matters to be discussed with senior management and the audit committee

    Managing relationships with external auditors and advisors

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics or finance
  • Relevant professional accounting certification is a plus

    Minimum 7 years work experience in similar position within a technical accounting department of a multinational group or providing IFRS accounting advisory services in a Big4 audit firm.

    Experience from the internet or advertising services industry is a plus.

    Expert on IFRS

    Strong analytical skills and ability to translate technical data into operational speak and impact analysis for the business

    Strong communication skills includes being able to provide training and presentations on complex IFRS matters in an understandable way across various forums and levels of the organisation.

    Excellent written and oral English communication skills.

    Problem solving skills (ability to quickly structure, understand, solve complex issues and provide pragmatic solutions).

    Ability to make the thought-process and the conclusions transparent to stakeholders. This must also include the ability to spot, assess and address risk, materiality, interdependencies and conflicts during the issue resolution process.

    Flexible and positive with a can do attitude

    Strong time and project management skills

    Ability to work to tight deadlines and able to prompt others to ensure deadlines are achieved

    Adaptable to working in a fast paced, ever-changing environment

    Ability to work under pressure and remain calm

    Striving for continuous improvement

    Ability to be diplomatic and yet persistent in the resolution of identified deviations from group accounting policies
