Are you ready to grow your career with us? As an Market Manager for QBE you will support the General Manager and the European Market Manager in increasing client numbers by supporting client needs, strategy and requirements and increasing client product density.
Accountable for the local delivery of increased volumes of business across all product lines, by building a quality client pipeline and business in view, whilst supporting the retention of key client accounts enabling us to drive sustainable profitable growth.
In addition, leverage major trading partners and local brokers in securing heightened retention, upsell and cross sell & significant uplift in new new business for all lines of business.
This position holds a leading responsibility over a team of other 3 people (Market Management team) being part of the Spanish Management Committee too, with the Office, Claims and Underwriting managers.
Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to :
Contribute to the design of the Distribution Proposition, including individual action plans and scorecards of selected key International and Regional brokers, validated by management and the Product Leaders, in line with the underwriting strategy and with the business plan of the Region / Branch.
Manage not only the opportunity pipeline but the business in view to increase density build and structure programme design for new and existing clients
Support delivery of increased client numbers by converting new new business opportunities in line with overall Retail strategy.
Ensure relationship contact points are set up for key individual clients in the region
Monitor and report on progress of the International and Regional broker plans (new business, product density and renewal retention), to ensure progress is on target, and to identify any underperformance on new business, renewal retention, & on-going actions.
Liaise with management when appropriate to ensure Broker & Client activity is managed in line with the QBE strategy and broker distribution is co-ordinated.
Liaise with the Distribution and relationship management team when appropriate to ensure activity is aligned to QBE strategy
Liaise with Marketing & Communication to deliver consistent messages with brokers in terms of strategy, product and plans
Operate collectively with Underwriters to ensure whole account view (WAV)
Prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, briefing papers and presentations for meetings / conferences, and present information when necessary on activity with brokers.
Ensure that output adheres to the relevant legal, compliance and regulatory frameworks and corporate policies in line with best practice.
Assist management and product leaders in maximising broker leads and co-ordinating where appropriate package solutions’ and the offering of multi class facilities.
Review local operational processes e.g. workflows, planning process etc to identify gaps and areas of improvement in order to maximize efficiency.
Ensure internal and external messages are co-ordinated & consistent
Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders, external clients and brokers to enhance sharing of knowledge / information and increase product density and client retention.
Proactively keep up to date with industry developments to ensure practices and outputs are of a high standard and drive forward continuous improvement to ensure QBE is ahead of its competitors.
Actively participate in and contribute to ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives which support achievement of business goals.
Ensure that the requirements of internal stakeholders, external clients and brokers are fully understood in order to align propositions effectively meet their needs
Actively seek, manage and act on client and broker feedback
Develop bespoke briefings and development plans for approved clients, working closely with them to target suitable solutions.
Actively undertake personal development to ensure up to date knowledge and skills.
Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through identifying and implementing appropriate development activities
Contribute and influence in the review and analysis of the regional portfolio, to identify new business development opportunities including cross class fertilisation within QBE and progress toward business objectives
Ensure that people, resources and processes are aligned with business needs and fit for purpose
Manage, resource, motivate, and focus the team(s) by :
Applying management best practices to ensure the required standards of performance
supporting the continuing personal and professional development of team members
Manage appointment, dismissal, performance engagement and reward of the team(s) to effectively manage portfolio resources
Establish clear accountabilities and authority levels and build a strong culture of accountability and performance to ensure delivery
You will need to be able to display you have the following qualifications and experience :
Significant knowledge and experience of commercial insurance and broking practice strategies who is able to understand the Whole Account View (WAV)
Knowledge of insurance industry regulation
Knowledge and expertise of the Local Insurance Market
Knowledge of business processes & strategic planning
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Data analysis capabilities working with CRM tools
Strong negotiating skills
Strong inter-personal skills to build relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external agencies
Strong leadership, people management and influencing abilities Ability to inspire others and build an effective team
Significant experience of the following :
Design and delivery of strategic plans
Monitor performance and correct deviations by proposing the appropriate action plans
Deep knowledge of the insurance market and products
Substantial underwriting experience across cross class propositions
Demonstrated people management experience.
Significant exposure to the insurance industry, with an ability to operate across all products, functions and numerous locations / territories
