Purpose of Role :

Reporting to the Manager of Project Procurement and Contracts, the Project Commercial Specialist will be responsible for the management of vendor packages in the supply of equipment and associated services for Capital projects.

Takes ownership of all pre and post-order purchasing activity for projects, from preparing procurement plans, quotation summaries, pricing negotiations and purchase orders through to arranging inspection and final delivery of equipment and materials.

Coordinates the delivery of required equipment and materials in accordance with the Project schedule and requested delivery.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties :

  • Responsible to execute the designated project packages according the defined commercial strategy and in compliance with Kinross sourcing strategy, standards, policies and guidelines for supply agreements and contracts
  • Conduct sourcing processes on project procurement packages by proactively facilitating the entire RFP, including the development of vendor lists, selection criteria, service and material requirements, contract management, bid documentation, change orders and issuing approved competitive documentation
  • Responsible for delivering on-time contracts to meet Project requirements, and ensuring that Project schedules are met.
  • Negotiate, draft and award contracts, agreements and amendments, as well as manage, terminate and close out contracts as and when required
  • Provide commercial assessment of vendor bids ensuring optimum value as a result of thorough commercial bid evaluations
  • Coordination together with the Quality Control department of vendor compliance with Company standards and the contract requirements
  • Liaise with the Inspection group or other inspection organization to obtain inspection of equipment and materials
  • Provide expedition of materials and vendor data on schedule and within cost to contribute to the successful delivery of the project
  • Other Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

  • Support the continuous improvement and execution of Kinross' sourcing strategy, policies and guidelines for service agreements and contracts.
  • Issue and Maintain the Purchasing Schedule and Procurement Register
  • Communicate any significant revisions regarding delivery times to the Project Manager
  • Record, monitor, reconcile, and report contracting and procurement activities, expenditures and commitments
  • Assist in the settlement of back charges and discrepancies when requested by authorized construction personnel
  • Timely processing and resolution vendor invoices
  • Perform other duties as assigned and delegated by the Manager, Project Procurement and Contracts or Manager, Project Purchasing
  • Scope of Responsibility and Complexity

    The Project Commercial Specialist will provide and implement standard industry best practices in all aspects of sourcing, contract formation and contract administration, including the preparation, review and issue of contractual documentation, and the implementation of effective commercial measures to facilitate the efficient and well controlled execution of the work under contract.

    Strategically, the role requires the Project Commercial Specialist to establish the required relationships within Kinross Project Team, construction contractors, Kinross Operations, Kinross Regional Management, and other third parties.

    Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and / or extensive experience in procurement and / or Business Administration.
  • Knowledge of contracting or Procurement principles
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, prioritizing and coordinating work in a changing environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft tools word, excel, power-point
  • Able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Skilled in using personal computer and various software packages.
  • Ability to establish priorities and work independently.
  • Ability to investigate and problem solve.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on work volume and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Courteous, diplomatic and able to work within tight response deadlines.
  • Possess a pro-active "can do" attitude

    Note : The applicant for this position will be employed by an external company providing employment services to Kinross.
