Job Description

MaxLinear is seeking an for our Paterna (Valencia) design center in Spain. The ideal candidate should have passion for technology, initiative and the ability to contribute in a dynamic environment with other talented engineers.

Strong circuit design fundamentals are necessary as is the ability to ramp up on a short well-defined project, and contribute strongly during your internship.

You will be potentially exploring a well-defined research problem that can contribute to MaxLinear’s long-term goals.

The project will consist on one or several of the following tasks :

  • Design, optimization & verification of a Low Drop Out (LDO) regulator :
  • Study and analysis of the different regulator topologies selecting the more suitable for the given specifications
  • Build a functional model including main parameters to be used in top level simulations
  • Transistor level implementation of the regulator
  • Full set of analysis and simulations : stb, dc, tran, ac (psrr, load rejection), corners and Montecarlo, etc.
  • Design for testability strategy for an Analog IC :
  • Understand the nature and limitation of the different signals to be tested inside an IC
  • Decide the best strategy for testing (number of signals per block, analog multiplexing, control interface, etc.
  • Design the test circuitry
  • Verify and simulate test circuitry at top level
  • Create a document with the results of the different test signals to be used as reference when measuring them once IC is manufactured and being tested in lab
  • Design, optimization & verification of different analog building blocks for signal conditioning : Current sources / DACs
  • Current controlled delay elemen
  • Current mode 2 quadrant multiplier
  • Adaptive bias current Low Drop Out regulator
  • Functional level implementation of a whole analog IC to be used in top level and co-simulations with other ICs :
  • Understand and define the main parameters to be modeled
  • Split the IC into its building blocks and create functional models of them
  • Create the top level test bench to reproduce different use cases
  • Define and perform the high level simulations in Cadence ADE XL tool
  • Maintain the platform to be used for regression test when including the different designed blocks at transistor level (along internship length)
  • Required Skills

  • Good knowledge of analog and mixed-signal IC design fundamentals and basic blocks (Bandgap, Biasing, OPAMP, Filters, ADC, DAC, PLL, Mixer, Power management, etc.)
  • Familiar with Cadence Virtuoso design tools
  • Verilog-a modeling skills are a plus
  • Good knowledge about electronic components and hands-on laboratory experience
  • Strong debugging / troubleshooting capability
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and have good spoken and written English skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in progress
