Leader of the successful delivery of Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities across the Region (Spain & Portugal).
Direct responsibility for EHS and management of a team of EHS professionals across the Country portfolio.
Technical Knowledge :
Country subject matter expert in Quality, Health, Safety & Environment, responsible for the provision of information, training and support to ensure compliance with current and new regulations and legislation
Supporting external audits by the Client (i.e. ISO, etc.)
Responsible for the development of corporate EHS guidelines and policies, ensuring that local obligations are met
Identify and evaluate the environmental aspects of site facilities and their operations, research and implement minimization techniques to reduce environmental impact
Oversee use of energy, waste and emissions, ensure accurate data collection and input
Maintain site preparedness and emergency plans & procedures
The key point of escalation for accidents and incidents reporting and ensure appropriate measures implemented to minimize future risk
Subject matter expert supporting Technology, Procurement and Engineering in their activities
Manage and develop the Country EHS team, ensuring all agreed business objectives are met in line with client and business expectations
Proven leadership skills with ability to work collaboratively with client QHSE counterparts
Responsible for leading the EHS Team to successfully achieve health, safety, and environmental targets by building a sustainable, consistent and high quality team
QHSE Objectives :
Agree and monitor corporate objectives for health, safety and environment that underpin our business strategy and develop appropriate metrics for reporting purposes
Responsible for delivery of Annual Operation Plan deliverables
Training and development :
Training and educating on the importance of premises safety checks including Asbestos and Risk Assessment Management, reviewing safety checks for consistency and identifying further training needs.
Evaluation of current training EHS programs and revision where necessary
Monthly KPI reporting against agreed metrics
EHS management reporting; review the current EHS management reporting requirements make recommendations where necessary.
Ensure the timely submission of reports.
Operational Plan reporting; report on progress of implementation of yearly operational plan initiatives
Maintaining and improving the EHS management system, ensuring that policies and procedures meet the global and local requirements
Oversee each region’s environmental management including hazardous waste and refrigerant gas management
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Degree in Environmental Science, Safety & Health, EH&S Management, or a related field required : Técnico Especialista Superior en Prevención de Riesgos Laborales
Minimum 5-7 years of leadership / managerial experience within the Environmental Health and Safety function including the auditing of premises and dealing with government inspectors required;
minimum of 3 years at the corporate level
Proven experience managing energy in complex organisations across a number of sites
Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and to influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists
Ability to lead a team remotely
Experience of an Integrated Management System
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office software
Highly effective written and verbal communications skills that can used with people of various backgrounds, experience, and education levels
Highly developed interpersonal communications skills and cultural sensitivity
Demonstrated highly effective platform presentation skills and training delivery skills
Ability to travel internationally
Understanding of Environmental issues, particularly waste, hazardous waste and refrigerant gas management
Ability to handle multiple projects and manage priorities
