We are currently seeking a Senior Regulatory Specialist with expertise in Environment, Health, Safety, and Transportation (EHS&T) regulations.
The position requires general global Dangerous Goods Transportation knowledge with specific expertise for development and delivery of training programs in accordance with International Air (ICAO / IATA), Sea (IMDG) and European (ADR) Dangerous Goods Transportation regulations addressing areas including (but not limited to) classification, packaging, marking, labelling, and documentation for all product types for all modes of transport.
In this role you will be responsible for responding to client inquiries, developing and delivering training materials, tracking regulatory changes, updating training materials, and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
What you’ll learn & achieve :
Under minimal supervision, the Senior Regulatory Specialist identifies, collects, and interprets science-based reports, data and regulations in order to prepare and deliver training programs for international air, sea, and European Dangerous Goods Transportation compliance.
The training programs will address classification, packaging, marking, labelling, and documentation for all product types and all modes of transport to support safe and compliant transport.
The Senior Regulatory Specialist also provides subject matter expertise to clients when requested which involves local, regional, national or international knowledge for application of transport regulations to industrial or consumer sectors.
The Senior Regulatory Specialist utilizes relevant software to support client requests. Mentors and trains Regulatory Specialists.
Interfaces with all levels of management to provide consultation on regulatory requirements.
Acts as front-line contact on client inquiries for training
Uses regulatory knowledge to provide expert subject matter expertise to develop and deliver transportation training programs to clients, and management for efficient EHS&T services when applicable
Interfaces closely with manager and directly with internal and external stakeholders and clients
Provides overall support to project team members and project managers
Uses relevant software to meet client EHS&T needs
Monitors applicable regulations relevant to specific job duties while maintaining a broad understanding of current regulatory landscape so that appropriate actions can be identified
Maintains required credentials and certifications
Collaborates with or leads multi-functional teams to improve processes and provides feedback to improve programs where applicable
Provides expert regulatory knowledge to support the Marketing and Sales teams as is necessary
Presents expert regulatory knowledge via Webinars and conferences to audiences to showcase UL’s expertise
Takes on additional responsibility as required to support business operations.
What makes you a great fit :
University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Toxicology, or a related discipline plus 5-10 years of experience in Dangerous Goods Transportation, Regulatory, Product Stewardship or EHS with an emphasis on and expertise in international air (ICAO / IATA), sea (IMDG), and European Dangerous Goods Transportation regulations.
Minimum of 5-10 years of Dangerous Goods Transportation experience in all modes for all product types
Current active Dangerous Goods Transportation Certification (IATA, IMDG)
Current active Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor qualification (DGSA)
Experience developing and delivering technical training
Experience working in database platforms and tools.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Excellent facilitation, collaboration, and organizational skills
Ability to create clear, logical training course materials
Ability to clearly and effectively present and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, with stakeholder reporting experience
Ability to devise solutions quickly and act with a sense of urgency
Demonstrated effective time management to handle and prioritize multiple projects or streams of work and allow timely and accurate completion of assigned work.
Focused and versatile team player who is comfortable under pressure, ambiguity, frequent change, or unpredictability
Understand current and future business goals to ensure business success

Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Minimal business travel is required (up to 10%).
