This role operates within PPD Laboratories highly established GMP lab function. In this role you will be part of a successful global Business Development team, and responsible for developing the GMP lab business in countries across Western and Eastern Europe.

Position Overview This position will primarily focus on leading and driving business development and sales to continue to develop and grow our offering in the Western Europe region.

The Account Director will sell GMP lab services. This position offers the opportunity for a self-motivated individual to influence business unit sales in a matrixed environment such that sales targets and account goals are met.

This role provides the opportunity to demonstrate your proven business development background, functioning as an individual contributor, with short and long-term growth opportunities.

In addition, there is opportunity to engage with many different types of accounts with various relationship maturities and at different points in the sales cycle.

Purpose and Objective : In this role you will secure and retain business for PPD through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new clients, and position PPD as a primary or preferred provider for all work to be outsourced.

You will be responsible for qualifying leads and developing proposals, including defining the solutions and recommending pricing structures to meet strategic company goals.

The role serves as the primary contact during negotiations and until work is sold, then coordinates with the relevant laboratory area(s) to ensure a successful implementation.

You will act as liaison between sponsor and company on all business development activities and requirements and you’ll gather data on marketing trends and competitive products / services and pricing.

  • LI-SH1Education and Experience RequirementsBachelor’s degree in life science , an advanced degree a plus.
  • 5 years combined scientific and selling experience in GMP Lab Services preferredUnderstanding of the drug development process
  • Track record of achieving / exceeding performance targets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to manage and fully integrate with Operations, Scientific organization, Finance, Contracts & Proposals and Marketing, and follow-up to expand relationships and business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and developing sales leads, making professional presentations, managing the sales process through close, and handling all aspects of contract negotiations.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively manage in a cross-functional environment, including gaining buy-in and support from internal stakeholders
  • Ability to think strategically, creatively, and a hunger to compete and win
