Description of the position offered

The successful candidate will be joining Jerome Solon s laboratory (biophysics of morphogenesis). The lab of Jerome Solon is interested in understanding biological tissue organization and the self-organization taking place during animal morphogenesis.

The lab uses a multidisciplinary approach combining high-resolution microscopy, Drosophila genetics, cell / tissue mechanics and biophysical modeling.

The project

The project aims to investigate the changes in epithelial mechanics occurring during morphogenesis and in response to mechanical perturbations.

The post-doctoral researcher will work with Drosophila melanogaster embryos as a model system and use the latest high-resolution microscopy techniques, genetic perturbations and tools developed in the lab to assess cell and tissue mechanics.

The final goal will be to quantitatively relate the expression of specific genes with the modulation of cellular mechanical properties to develop accurate physical models of the system.

Therefore, a close collaboration with biologists and physicists present in the lab and in the institute will be required to the success of the project.

Education and Experience Required

The candidate should have a PhD in Biology or Biophysics or similar.

We are looking for candidates with expertise in biophysics, microscopy, cell and developmental biology, and image analysis.

Good communication skills in English and previous experience with the biological research environment will be appreciated.
