Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) BAY AREA DISTRICT / KENT CANYON / MOUNT TAMALPIAS STATE PARK
The reporting location for this position is the Kent Canyon Barn in Mt. Tamalpias State Park, with extensive travel and long term project coordination at any State Park in the District.
The Park Maintenance Assistant (PI) works under the Supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief I (Trails).
This position will frequently work from remote locations to efficiently complete task assignments. This position will provide daily support to Seasonal Staff, California Conservation Corp (CCC), American Conservation Experience (ACE), and volunteer crews in project implementation that includes : trail and road construction, maintenance and resource activities.
Work will include heavy manual labor, extensive walking to and from work sites, hot summer temperatures, cold winter conditions including work in rain and heavy wind conditions, and in high altitude and coastal environments.
Normal work schedule is Wednesday through Wednesday 7 : 00am to 5 : 30pm with six days off between Wednesday to Wednesday, eight day working shifts.
This position is required to work nights, weekends, odd hours, and overtime in accomplishment of assigned tasks. This position may spike camp at work sites throughout the district.
Remote work locations, 8 or 10 day work assignments, overnight travel and spike camps are expected. It is anticipated that this position will work 1500 hours and employment is dependent on special project funding.
This position requires a valid Class C Driver’s License. Please provide proof of
