Purpose of the Job

As a Project Engineer you willlead, manage and control all engineering-related activities in the project to deliver on requirements, budget and schedule.

The Project Engineer will ensure lessons learned and best practices are applied on projects and transferred to new projects or milestones.

This role will also involve project planning and execution, resource management, scope management, configuration management, stakeholder management, support and drive issue resolutions, business improvement and customer support.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Lead all aspects of design, implementation, testing and commissioning required to deliver the scope of the engineering project so as to satisfy customer requirements while adhering to project budgets and schedules.
  • Establish and maintain interfaces with other Engineering departments & with relevant functions (Project Management, Procurement, Operations, Sales, Bids).
  • Continuous optimization of Project Engineering processes / tools / behaviours by taking into account business requirements, customer needs, technical innovations, and new market conditions.
  • Monitor, control and report monthly all product related financial aspects of the project consistent with the contract requirements and established project management procedures to attain established goals.
  • Ensure that relevant skills are made available by the Engineering Function in order to fulfil project requirements.
  • Prepare and execute product life cycle decisions in cooperation with Project Engineers and project teams (requirements, architecture, development, testing, validation, safety, quality and configuration).
  • Occasional travels to meet with stakeholders and customers.
  • Key requirements :

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering. Computer / Software Engineering will be desirable.
  • Strong Experience in Project Management from a similar industry or with complex projects.
  • Experience working in a technical role within a multinational environment.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Software development life cycle (understand SW in all phases - QA, validation, certification of product : standards from rail, aerospace, automotive, etc).
  • Railway experience and knowledge will be considered a plus.
  • Experience working with MS Office is mandatory.
  • Experience working with Primavera and / or MS Project will be considered a plus.
  • Good understanding of product life cycle management and configuration management.
  • Excellent social, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using technical experience and judgements.
  • English or French at a fluent level is mandatory for this role.
