We are happy to announce : Bumble engineering team comes to Barcelona! This is an exciting opportunity for a well-seasoned Engineering Manager to join us and help in the ongoing development of our large-scale backend and its modernisation.
At Bumble, we work in cross-functional business units with dedicated focus. These pods’ are co-led by product and engineering.
As an engineering manager, you will form a close partnership with your product counterpart to lead a team whose disciplines cover engineering (full stack including mobile), QA, product, data analytics, research and design.
This role will be focused on managing the engineering disciplines within the team. It requires a very strong, mature technical operator who is able to see the big picture and steward their team in the shaping of all development and execution aspects : service architecture, technical footprint, deployment pipelines, delivery lifecycle best practices.
Critically, it requires someone who can challenge, ask the right questions, and empower their team to come up with the answers.
Also, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for setting great culture, and supporting the growth and development of their team (both technical and emotional skills).
Alongside their product counterpart, we expect the Engineering Manager to be accountable for key success metrics and global business concerns (like InfoSec, commercial, legal) and has to build great relationships with the business and stakeholders.
Our current backend operation is huge, it serves around 70k rps across our data centers and we have thousands of servers executing different roles.
Several hundreds of those serve requests coming from our 600m global users. Our goal is to have a flexible platform, services and applications, enabling us to serve our existing products and build new ones.
This permanent role will be based in Barcelona.
