We are looking for a Backend Developer with development experience in Java, Springboot, (optional Quarkus) supporting the development of REST API’s hosted in a cloud native environment (Rancher Kubernetes).

Platform used Small Molecule Research by Scientists to register chemical batches. Many other research applications supporting logistics, ordering, workflows or data analysis are dependent on the data registered.

Provisioning of new modern Web User Interfaces and API's for integration with the application landscape is in the focus of the project.

Role description

As the Developer , you support the technical manager in the overall architecture, decision processes and take over the team leadership.

Learn and understand the current legacy applications and services from either business analyst information, documentation or source code (reverse engineer)

Migration of existing technical services and REST API’s (modernize), including provisioning of API documentation (Swagger / OpenAPI)

Implementation of new REST API’s

Setting up CI / CD pipelines in Gitlab

Ensure good communication to especially Frontend developer and the other team members

Nice-to-have :

Knowledge of Chemistry would be helpful

Java Enterprise standards (JSP, Servlet, etc.)

Agile software development practices knowledge (Scrum)

Good knowledge of Docker containers as a bonus

GIT, JIRA, CI / CD, Gitlab

Kubernetes as a bonus
