Customer Experience Staff Architect (Telco)

The Customer Experience Staff Architect for Telco focuses on the components of the service offering and the delivery / implementation assets for offerings covering multiple service lines (consulting, support, success, education and tam).

You’ll join a team of architects, engineers and content designers that support App Modernization, Virtual Cloud Network, Multi-Cloud, Digital Workspace, Transformation Consulting and Intrinsic Security.

This role will be responsible for the definition, development, rollout, and enablement of service offers for VMware Telco technologies .

You will work closely with various business units, customer success, engineering, education, support, marketing, professional services, sales, alliances, and partner engineering organizations in designing, validating, and building sales, technical, and service delivery collaterals.

You will also work with VMware and partner sales teams to provide Go-To-Market enablement and sales support for joint solution and service selling activities.


As the hands-on technical subject matter expert, the Staff Architect will be responsible for :

  • solutions and services engineering activities like proof-of-concepts, pilots, use case development, solution validation, workshops, and enablement
  • developing and releasing sales, technical, and service delivery collaterals including deployment guides, best practices, sizing whitepapers and solution reference architectures
  • collaborating with GTPS team worldwide, business units, engineering, marketing, professional services, sales, alliances, and partner engineering organizations to develop, validate, and release sales, technical, and service delivery collateral
  • maintaining deep technical and business knowledge of VMware solution areas and develop new technology integrations and solution capabilities
  • providing expert technical architectural support and guidance for solution opportunities that involve virtualization, cloud infrastructure, management and security, including integration with certain select 3rd party products
  • maintaining technical credibility within the industry and the field through demonstration of thought leadership. This includes participating in delivering technical enablement web conferences and training sessions at VMware and other industry conferences and events

  • Services are well-understood by VMware delivery teams and teams are appropriately enabled in their use
  • Standardized Services are used as the basis for at least 50% of all Consulting activity

  • Awareness, enablement, usage and feedback is uniform across all geographies and regions
  • There is consistently excellent and frictionless alignment with other PSE and PS-ERD functions
  • Skills, Attributes, & Experience

  • Experience in professional services / alliances / solution engineering / consulting / technical sales with expertise in architecting and deploying telco solutions, virtualization solutions, and rolling out new technology and solution initiatives.
  • Experience of infrastructure architecture experience with significant depth around designing, implementing, and managing critical cross-functional integration projects in enterprise datacenters.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Deep understanding of the telecommunication market and NFV / SDN context, standards, technology and use cases
  • Experience with VMware vCloud NFV, highly desirable.
  • Experience in architecting and designing Data Center Automation and Network Function Virtualization Private Cloud Solutions
  • Understanding of cloud native application concepts
  • Prior experience in addressing business and technical stakeholder requirements and translating these to appropriate solution architectures a must.
  • Prior experience in developing sales, technical or service delivery collateral a must.
  • Prior experience working with cloud solutions a must.
  • Working-level knowledge of VMware’s SDDC product stack is strongly preferred.
  • Managing relations with both internal and external business and technical teams.
  • Experience with product, solutions or service development process.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter, detail oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Possible Certification Requirements Are

    Certified Telecommunication Network Specialist (CTNS)

    Certified Telecommunications Analyst (CTA)
