JOB DESCRIPTION

The Robotics and Automation Unit of Eurecat Technology Center (Barcelona) is looking for a highly motivated researcher to lead our team on Robotic Cognition and AI.

The candidate shall lead and supervise the team working on different research projects dealing with the application of robot in affective human-inspired robotics.

The group focuses on the application of robot learning, human-robot interaction, advanced perception, robot behavior generation and semantics to complex robotics applications such as healthcare and manufacturing.

Our group is specialized in applied research and development on Service and Industrial Robotics. Our objective is to increase the level of robot autonomy and intelligence to enable more complex robotics behaviours.

We focus on the following topics : aerial and terrestrial autonomous navigation, industrial robotics, manipulation, human-robot cooperation, perception, cognition, and robot behavior.

Over the last 15 years, our group has developed extensive experience in solutions and developments for our industrial and service private customers, as well as in several of the most successful European and Spanish projects in robotics.

ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate shall work on different research projects dealing with the application of robot perception (cameras, laser, etc) for vision-guided robotics.

The main responsibilities will focus on the scientific contribution and technological developments including :

Participate in the definition and development of new concepts and robotic ideas

Develop, validate and maintain code

Sporadic support / supervision to robot integration and maintenance

Participate in scientific publications

Support to project management to ensure proper project execution

Establish and maintain contact with clients and partners in consortium

Language’s training (EN, Catalan and Spanish)

REQUIRED SKILLS

PhD or MSc and equivalent experience in Robotics, AI, Computer Vision or related discipline.

Excellent background in robot learning and AI

Knowledge about ROS (Robot Operating System) and good programming skills (C++ mostly).

Team spirit and ability to work independently.

Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and creativity.

Excellent knowledge of English is required.

Availability to travel occasionally
