Wireless Innovative MMIC (WIMMIC) a Spanish MMICs design house with experience in Telecommunications, Space, and Defense, tackling any customised design of integrated circuits, is looking for an experienced engineer to be its new Innovation Associate (IA) under a Horizon 2020 (European Commission) project recently awarded to WIMMIC.
WIMMIC is looking for a PhD holder (or four years equivalent experience) in electronic engineering with additional proven track record of interactions with the industrial sector and used to operate in a commercial environment wishing to join a young company with a team RFIC / MMIC telecommunication engineers working in collaboration with the Institute for Applied Microelectronics (IUMA) of University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain).
The Innovation Associate, as member of the RFIC / MMIC design team, will perform tasks in the following aspects for MMICs applications in space (space qualification process needed) :
Leading block level design for RFIC / MMIC, mmWave frequency planning, VCO, LO generator, frequency multiplier and dividers, up / down converter, low noise amplifier, Buffer amplifier, power amplifier, filter, and antenna switches.
Hands-on work on circuit design, modelling, and verification in either GaN, GaAs, CMOS, SiGe HBT process. Responsible for corner, PVT, and Monte Carlo simulation.
Participating also in layout, DRC / LVS, and post-layout optimisations.
Electro-magnetic (EM) modelling of circuits and block level and beyond including packaging and PCB.
Together with other design engineers, optimising critical performances such as closed loop phase noise, LNA and transceiver chain NF and linearity, power amplifier PAE / ACPR / EVM.
The IA will also participate / be the leader in evaluating, measuring, and debugging the design until it reaches high volume production.

Skills / Qualifications
Specific technical skills and experience expected :
Thorough knowledge of semiconductor process such as GaN, GaAs, CMOS, SiGe and HBT.
Proven design experience in GaN, GaAs, CMOS analog / RFIC blocks above 1GHz.
Proficient with EDA tools ADS, Momentum, Cadence Spectre / SpectreRF.
Direct product development experience (chip level and RF system level) through product definition to mass production and solid fundamentals on VCO, PLL, high-speed / high-bandwidth op-amp, band-gap, bias, LDO, prior design experience with PA, LNA, buck-boost converters, filter are a plus.
Ideally, with GaN / GaAs mm-Wave IC Design and layout experiences.
PhD dissertation (or equivalent experience) on Multi-GHz CMOS / SOI / BiCMOS wireless transceiver circuit blocks or front-end module including integrated antenna is preferred.
