Job Summary

The Service Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving food and beverage items for both guests and beverage servers in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner.

He / she is also responsible for maintaining the beverage par levels through daily requisitions.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma and / or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work-exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout the bar area with trays of beverages and / or food.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • General Requirements

  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
  • Fundamental Requirements

  • Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
  • Complete opening / closing duties according to established sidework checklist.
  • Prepare drinks for guests and beverage servers using standard procedures.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials and upsell to guests.
  • Assist beverage servers in the servicing of tables as needed.
  • Adhere to policies of underage drinking, and establishing proper identification for everyone.
  • Wash all glassware and maintain a sanitary environment in accordance with local health codes.
  • Complete beverage requisitions to maintain par levels as needed. (Bottle for bottle exchange system.)
  • Monitor guests for intoxication and report such findings to Manager immediately.
  • Make change from cash register.
  • Complete the required closing paperwork at the end of each shift.
  • Knowledge of local liquor laws.
  • Knowledge of liquor, beer, wine, and mixed drinks.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
