and Qualifications :
The successful candidate will act as a Process Instrumentation & Controls (PICS) Maintenance Engineer providing technical support primarily to our Southern Europe (SE) operating facilities across Spain.
Location : El Morell Tarragona
Travel expectancies : Between 20% to 40% of the time.
The Maintenance Department provides a wide variety of maintenance support to more than 30 operating facilities across Spain.
Improvement projects / backlog large need of upgrades and variety of control systems & instrumentation
Principle Responsibilities :
Development of control strategies; participation in P&ID development; production and maintenance of project instrument databases utilizing INTools;
specification of process control equipment including control valves, flow measurement devices, process instrumentation.
There will be a large emphasis on troubleshooting and modification of control systems including PLC, SCADA & DCS systems.
Experience in programming DCS & PLC's (ABB, Omron, Rockwell, Siemens PCS7, WinCC, Step 5 and Step 7 PLC) would be an advantage.
The engineer will be required to support remotely, where possible, but also expected to travel as necessary. This may be at short notice, and occasionally there will be a need to work outside normal office hours to support our operational business.
To respond to any major occurrence of plant breakdown where control & instrumentation expertise is required, carry out prompt inspection, analyze the fault, repair and recommission affected plant and equipment to assure the minimum loss of production.
Support plants and at times the maintenance teams on maintenance shutdowns. When supervising contractors and / or Carburos Metálicos staff, ensure that the work is adequately planned and executed safely at a high level of effectiveness.
Carry out plant modification according to central design specification, submit any self-generated design changes to specialist engineers for approval before implementation.
Give advice and assistance to Plant Managers, maintenance manager and work closely with other engineers in the Operations group as needed.
Prior knowledge and / or hands on experience with specifying and commissioning shut down systems will be an advantage.

To provide a primary point of contact for all PICS technical questions.
To interface with global subject matter experts and technical leads.
Design / installation / commissioning / operation / maintenance
To inspect / qualify / validate analytical methods and systems.
To understand and ensure regulatory compliance in the countries we operate.
To understand and ensure company standards are complied with and assist with review of relevant standards.
To provide "hands-on" plant assistance as necessary throughout region for problem resolution, commissioning activities, etc.
To audit plants as necessary.
To manage equipment obsolescence.
Reporting to the SE Maintenance Manager.
Knowledge / Experience :
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the design and implementation of
control and instrumentation systems.
It is expected that the candidate will possess considerable experience gained working in an engineering design or operating organization.
Relevant practical site experience would be beneficial.
The successful candidate will be expected to be self motivated, with good interpersonal and communication skills enabling him to work well within the multi-disciplined design team and to liaise directly with site personnel.
When required he / she would need to communicate in English, so strong level of English is required.
The successful candidate will be expected to have an Engineering Degree (Electrical, Electronic or Control & Instrumentation Engineering) or an equivalent related Subject (CFGS).
