Director, Acceptance - Business Development Job Description Director BD Acceptance vertical lead The Acceptance Development is part of the European & Spanish Market Development team, focusing on the development and execution of local acceptance and acquiring strategy in .

This role is essential to protect and increase Mastercard’s acquiring revenues and partner brand preference and developing new growth opportunities in new (acceptance) verticals.

The role requires building up on the business relationship with key acquirers ( Acquiring Role ) and Key PSPs and partners ( PSP Role ) as well as acquiring value chain counterparts ( Acceptance Counterpart Role ).

It will also require building up new Business development solutions to enhance / grow acceptance on verticals and on new technologies (i.

e App / Wallet / E-commerce / NFC / Click2Pay / Tap on Phone solutions). Role

  • Growth of reported and processed acquiring volumes, gross and net acquiring revenues and share of acquiring volumes from new sectors / verticals / new technologies.
  • Lead development of local acquirers and central acquirers and PSPs with support of Account Managers to ensure open dialogue, manage day to day business, identify opportunities, enhance business and ensure acceptance quality.
  • Liaise key internal stakeholders across Europe to transfer expertise to and handle acceptance related queries of financial, business and operational nature
  • Develop basic and enhanced acceptance in Spain by dealing with assigned counterparts (acquirers, merchants, PSP, Processors, Terminal Vendors, Merchants)
  • Development and execution of plans to expand MasterCard acceptance (e.g. new sectors, / verticals, e-commerce, Payment ion APPs, C2P) in Spain
  • Leading virtual teams (Technical and Product) in order to certify and enable all the value chain (Acquirers, Network Sales Operators, terminal Vendors, Cash registers) across all type of interfaces (POS and ecom)
  • In collaboration with marketing and Product Sales team, identify opportunities to jointly develop strategic initiatives to drive top-line growth (services, core, etc)
  • Identify opportunities to implement (customized) solutions / tools allowing to diversify acceptance revenues
  • Manage with high confidence pricing discussions with acquirer members to defend economics
  • Manage Interchange discussions with counterparts as subject matter expert All About You

  • Solid inter-personal and communication skills both in Spanish and English written and oral
  • Team-player with hands-on attitude
  • Ability to develop customer relationships and deriving business opportunities out of an in-depth understanding of customer needs
  • Proven ability to develop business relationships at all levels
  • Results-oriented and customer-focused
  • Strong Sales / Business Development / Relationship Management background, being experience in acquiring space a plus
  • Ability to understand and execute on key operational aspects, and attentive to details
