The PCB Engineer (PCB) is the developer of the PCB design following the specs released by the customer. The main responsibility is developing the PCB design and releasing the documents associated to it like 2D.
He / she shall follow PCB Valls Design guidelines and PCB.
Synonyms : PCB Designer, PCB product Design Engineer
Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to)
Develop PCB designs having the technical control and taking technical decisions for the correct fulfillment of PCB product functionality and its requirements
Be authorized to take technical decisions in order to assure the correct development of the PCB development being also responsible for the consequences of those decisions.
Provide the technical help and support to other areas (internal & external) involved on the development, production, testability and manufacturability of the PCB.
Analyze and understand related PCB specifications (product specs, packaging specs ).
Analyze and understand laboratory validation to be applied into the product.
Make the PCB design fulfilling the specifications following internal and external design guide lines and specifications.
Apply the defined components into the PCB design
Analyze and develop the PCB design against specifications (DORS) :
Support the Mechanical team leaders for developing the correct product design.
Make the PCB drawings, specifications, manufacturing and customer drawings.
Releases technical documentation (fabrication and assembly) according Lear SEM (Change Management Tool), SVN and Jira.
Perform design reviews within the affected areas, suppliers and customers.
Responsible of the PCB BOM.
Support and follow PCB design review with customer, manufacturing, suppliers and engineering áreas
Creates and keeps component libraries.
Responsible for schematic introduction on CAD database for power JB according costumer specifications.
Defines and optimizes topology and technology of PCB with Project team.
Leads the PCB DFMEA and participates when requested on the PFMEA.
To succed you must have :
Knowledge of CAD tools (PCAD, Expedition )
Communication and negotiation skills
Knowledge of customer(s) procedures.
Knowledge of the development processes established in the organization & project
Knowledge of industry applicable standards and customer specifications
Knowledge of the Requirements management tools used in the organization (i.e. DOORS, SEM, SVN )
Knowledge of automotive industry, Quality standards and problem resolution tools (8D, DVT, PVT, PPAP )
Knowledge of Power Electronics and Electrical Vehicles.
PCB Design knowledge (technical, EMC’s, Thermal Management ).
Overall understanding of International PCB standards (i.e.IPCs).
Overall understanding of PCB materials, technologies and manufacturing assembly processes.
Overall understanding of the state of the art on PCB technologies
