Job Description Summary
The Pitch Bearing Technical Leader for the wind turbine Rotor Mechanical team within the Land Constrained Segment will provide technical guidance & leadership to a team of 4-6 design engineers who support the product through the entire life cycle from conceptual design through design and development, testing, qualification, manufacturing and installed fleet support.
The TL will drive technical excellence and continuous improvement in the design, analysis, cost, producibility and reliability of the components under their responsibility.
Provide technical leadership to engineers responsible for designing pitch bearing systems for wind turbines; technical leadership encompasses component design, system interaction, and system reliability.
Hold ownership of and drive lessons learned, best practices and standardization into design related documentation such as design practices, drawings, technical specifications etc..
Responsible for design, development and testing to prove component function and reliability
Provide innovative design solutions to meet aggressive timing, product cost and reliability targets
Ensure quality of new and revised drawings, BoMs and specifications applying all GE and industry processes, standards and best practices
Work cross functionally, developing strong relationships with quality teams, manufacturing engineers, sourcing, suppliers, field support and others to improve product quality and first-time yield
Support manufacturing, sourcing and the field with issue resolution and quick corrective actions for design related causes (NCR, SDR, PAC)
Drive quick, complete technical root cause analysis of field failures and identify design related corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Identify and execute cost saving ideas and strategies
Drive efforts to introduce advanced technology, materials, manufacturing methods, new design tools / methods etc to advance the strategic position of wind rotational components
Qualifications / Requirements :
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Material Engineering
Significant bearing design, analysis, and manufacturing experience
Significant Wind Turbine bearing specific analysis and design experience
Technical drawing, GD&T, manufacturing experience
Experience with 3D-CAD tools like UG
Working knowledge of Ansys or other finite element analysis tools
Successful project / program leadership
Fluent English written and spoken
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Proven ability to lead global team members across cultural boundaries
Ability to work under pressure and challenging conditions
Strong desire and ability to drive improvement and change
