Our opportunity

Investment Administration & Accounting (IAA) is a global service unit responsible for investment back office and accounting within the Zurich Group.

We deliver to around 30 countries through a regional SLA based, shared service operating model with three dedicated client facing Centers of Excellence in 3 continents.

With our 140 team members, we provide accounting & reporting service for local GAAP, Stat, Tax and Group IFRS - covering approximately 90% of Group’s Own Assets.

We endeavor to implement globally consistent accounting and operational procedures, provide quality services to investment management and finance teams, generate operating efficiencies, as well as develop an agile organization.

This role supports the investment administration and accounting (IAA) monthly close process and delivery for certain reporting units in a region, the primary objective being the production of investment accounting data and analytics under Group international as well as local accounting standards for different stakeholders, e.

g. Local FAR, Tax and Zurich Group Investment Management (ZGIM) teams.

Your role

  • Responsible to perform the monthly hard close process and delivery of investment data according to locally agreed service levels and time lines
  • Execute and measure controls and quality checks as part of the closing process and internal frameworks
  • Prepare the adaption of local or Group changes related to chart of account, valuation principles and reporting requirements
  • React on scorecard feedback by establishing, implementing and monitoring improvement actions and actively participating in review calls
  • Ensure compliance of sub ledger with local and group requirements : Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Local Statutory and regulatory / Tax Accounting Principles (SAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and other external or internal policies or guidelines, e.
  • g. Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)

  • Perform regular operational effectiveness tests and risk assessments in the respective area
  • Deliver reports which provide insight to CIOs and CFOs on the catalyst for investment accounting results and how investment data has developed over time
  • Determine and explain the main drivers of investment result across most common asset classes, their lifecycle and how it is presented in BS / PL
  • Help resolving operational day-to-day problems identified by the accounting department or referred from other functional areas, ensuring an efficient and high-
  • quality service, including the management of issues according to the Group Incident Management Policy

  • Support the team with a variety of initiatives and projects, including reporting, valuations, including Other Than Temporary Impairments (OTTI) analysis, portfolio analysis, investment income planning and investment mandates involving new asset types
  • Act as a supporter in a process or technical accounting in administering traditional and non-traditional financial instruments, delivering process enhancements using the ZurichLean Framework, where applicable, and initiating change in order to contribute to continuous improvement of quality checks and monitoring of services
  • Provide proactive advice and help to address specific technical queries from internal clients and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with Zurich policies and processes and regulatory requirements
  • Keep track on key performance targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in order to optimize business performance in line with set objective
  • Your Skills and Experience

    As a Junior Investment Accountant Analyst your skills and qualifications will ideally include :

    Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance

    Primary experience within Accounting department

    Knowledge of operational asset, risks and markets

    Strong client focus, combined with analytical and problem solving skills

    Team player and hands on attitude

    Very good communication skills

    SAP experience will be a tremendous advantage

    Very good knowledge of English is a must

    Additional Information This is a temporal position.
