The project in general aims at establishing a quantitative framework for the Systems Biology of Cell Metabolism based on techniques of Statistical Mechanics, that is one line of research of the theoretical / protocell group led Prof. KR Mirazo at IBF / FBB.

In particular the successful candidate will work on quantitative modeling metabolic fluxes of the central carbon core of S.

Cerevisiae with the Jaynes maximum entropy method 1 under the supervision of Dr D. De Martino.

He / she will make use of state-of-the art flux measurements recently performed by Dr. De Martino in collaboration with the molecular system biology lab at the University of Groningen (NL) 2 .

We are looking for students with a Master degree in a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Good communication skills in English and previous experience with the biological research environment will be appreciated.
