The role of the Cloud Storage Engineer will be to design, deploy and maintaining the storage and backup infrastructure across all NTT Data centres in Europe primarily and globally.
Designing and deploying robust fault tolerant high-availability storage and backup solutions on premise and in the Cloud.
The Storage Engineering group is responsible for NTT Data Centre storage and backup solutions, technology evaluation and development and maintenance of the infrastructure associated to products.
Specifically, this role involves the design of new solutions, supporting operations and improving and enhancing the underlying DC or Cloud infrastructure.
The role will be exposed to all aspects of storage and backup related technologies used within large-scale data centres and hyperscalers as well as the Devops tools used by the company.
Key Duties :
Design storage and backup solutions on premise and in the Cloud
Deployment, maintenance and Tier3 support of all infrastructure in scope of the Storage Engineering team
Documentation control mechanisms to ensure documentation is maintained and kept up to date
Precise detail-oriented documentation and diagramming skills required
Assist with planning, testing and providing detailed steps to ensure successful completion of Storage hardware and software upgrades and maintenance work
Capacity Management of storage arrays, backup systems and cloud resources
Inventory control
Change control
Monitoring of throughput, capacity, and general monitoring
Measurement of storage and backup performance and establishment of key indicators
Deploy monitoring tools that help to measure all indicators.
Development of custom applications for storage and backup management purposes

Education :
Degree in Programming / IT / Telecommunications area
Ability to use English as the working language
IT Skills :
Strong communication skills required
Strong programming skills (Python, Ruby or similar)
Ability to code, script and tool development
Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
Strong grasp of Devops and automation tools (Kubernetes, Puppet, Ansible).
Experience with systems and IT operations (design, deployment, operation) required
Experience with storage vendors is required (Netapp and Dell-EMC is desirable).
Experience with backup software vendors is required (NetBackup and Veeam is desirable).
Experience with global public clouds (Azure is a plus).
Professional experience :
Minimum of five years of experience in similar position working in Provider based multi-tenant DC’s.
Experience working with open source software and developing automation tools.
Experience supporting storage and backup services and servers
Understanding and experience of hypervisor virtualization technologies (VMware)
Strong grasp of utilization of Devops tools (Kubernetes, Puppet, Ansible)
Experience with public cloud providers at storage and backup level (Azure)
