Geotab is actively seeking an IT Specialist to join the growing team in Madrid.

The successful candidate will have studied computer science or engineering and have a background in IT, systems security and providing world-class technical service.

As the IT Specialist, you will manage and administer key projects and implementations championed by the IT and Security teams.

You’ll be the main point of contact for technical and non-technical service-desk requests, tracking our laptops and related assets, and working to improve our IT processes as Geotab grows.

As the IT Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering high quality, cost-effective solutions to all levels of users and is responsible for supporting the IT goals and objectives of Geotab.

The IT Specialist will work closely with our Technical Services team and should possess strong technical knowledge and experience in network, mobile and laptop devices, operating systems, network protocols, and technical architectures.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are critical.

Duties and Tasks / Essential Functions

  • Act as the first point of escalation for resolving all internal IT software, hardware, and wireless network connectivity issues including setup, connectivity, functionality, and update issues for Chromebooks, PCs, Ubuntu, and Macs
  • Administer workstation hardening, encryption, anti-virus installation and configuration
  • Create and update documentation (design specs, project documentation, SOP documents, wikis, other misc. documentation as required)
  • Ensure a smooth experience for employees’ IT onboarding and handle off-boarding needs
  • Be the SME for all technical-related functions in Europe, provide cross-training and knowledge sharing, to empower the team to be more successful
  • Manage the purchasing, vendor coordination, and tracking of IT assets, connectivity form ISPs, and software licenses in partnership with IT Procurement
  • Set up and operate IT equipment to record town halls as well as any offsite events
  • Coordinate office moves and setups for all IT requirements and equipment
  • Manage, install, troubleshoot and maintain office IT equipment such as WiFi, printers, video conferencing hardware, and Geotab networks (WAN, LAN, VOIP)
  • Manage & maintain IT asset inventory and software licensing, and work with Compliance to ensure that systems and software are accurately recorded, tracked, and retired to 100% of accountability standards
  • Maintain overall security of the Geotab network (including virus, network security, etc) for all servers, network peripherals, and workstations
  • Manage employee credentials in G Suite, DUO, and other SaaS products
  • Keep all servers and workstations secure with the latest patches, service packs and other updates
  • Automate repetitive tasks with appropriate scripting languages and tools
  • Mobile device management and troubleshooting (iOS, Android)
  • Experience / Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant IT experience
  • Experience with desktop support and installations
  • Knowledge of Windows OS installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Experience with cloud-based IaaS, PaaS, and / or SaaS, preferable Google or AWS
  • Proficient abilities in LDAP, DNS, Security, Network Design, VPN, Thin-Clients,
  • MCSE, Google, CCNA, Network+ or other relevant IT certifications are considered an asset
  • Experience with SaaS-based services (ex : Google Suite, Duo, GitHub, Azure) with ability to learn and integrate new ones
  • Strong track record managing priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Experience with Linux installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance is considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability and desire to travel to the Geotab head office in Canada and other European offices when required
