The Chief Accountant will form part of the global accounting team and will be responsible for the month-end accounting procedures and reconciliations of financial data flows as well as ensure quality control over financial transactions and reports.
As the Senior Accountant, you will also liaise with external organizations and authorities, including external auditors, and will analyze all accounting records and ensure financial data is reliable and gives a true and fair view of the financial position.
This role has full ownership of the tasks previously described, meaning that the Chief Accountant must be prepared to have an operational role when it comes to support with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the finance department in Spain.
Main Responsibilities :
Ensuring that daily accounting operations are processed in accordance with the Spanish legislation, IFRS and best practices.
Daily management of accounting, e.g. provide control and necessary guidance to ensure that work is done accurately and according to highest quality standards.
Cash flow management : monthly cash flow forecast for group Financial Manager, ensure that company has sufficient resources to pay its invoices in the due time
Preparation of VAT report & submitting to tax authorities; ensuring that tax is calculated and accounted for in compliance with the Spanish tax legislation
Preparing of statistics reports for the Bank
Control and approve payments (payroll, invoices, taxes and other)
Follow up that tax payments and payments to suppliers are done within stipulated deadlines
Ensuring that Evolution Group’s financial procedures are followed and complied with
Monthly closing procedures : ensuring the month is closed properly necessary calculations of depreciation and accruals are in place.
Ensuring that transactions entered during the month were done properly and accurately by selecting correct accounts, correct periods and correct accounting principles
Issue monthly invoices for services (management fees and similar)
Reconciliation of monthly group balances
Ensuring that taxes are calculated and accounted for in compliance with the Spanish tax legislation
Cooperation with bank requesting documents for changes in users, opening / closing company cards etc
Cooperation with tax authorities consulting, managing disputes, other communication
Partner with accounting systems’ providers and support regarding existing problems, possible improvements etc
Follow to changes in legislation, necessary software updates etc
Preparation of statutory audits preparation of annual reports, Spanish tax calculations, preparation of the information required by auditors, answering to auditors’ questions, assistance to ensure that statutory audits are finalized within stipulated deadlines
Follow up VAT position (balance). Prepare and submit necessary documentation for VAT reclaim.

Professional Accounting education - Fully qualified
Proven experience working as a Senior Accountant / managerial role in an international environment
Strong communication in Spanish and English both verbal and written;
Strong Microsoft excel skills and other relevant applications;
Proven knowledge of Spanish tax & employment legislation (including payroll calculations)
High sense of responsibility
