The Start Experiences team is looking for an expereinced Engineering Manager to help us tackle strategic investments and build our teams in Barcelona.
This is an opportunity to develop experiences for over 500M users worldwide and build state-of-the-art web applications, consumer, and enterprise content focused applications and rich, engaging experiences in Start Experiences Team , while working to grow daily engagement and delight out users.
On the Start Experiences team , our goal is to help users build a daily reading habit as they start their journey inside Microsoft products.
We build homepage and new tab page experiences that are contextual, personal, engaging, and fast.
This year, our Start Experiences team will focus on driving growth and engagement across many canvases including :
Windows and Edge via homepage and new tab pages.
Xbox, iOS and Android via Microsoft Start and Bing apps via Chromium browser extensions and direct navigations on homepages such as style "margin : 0px; padding : 0px;">
and style "margin : 0px; padding : 0px;">

Define and communicate a vision for an extensive engineering effort while directly managing engineers and coordinating with many teams cross organizations.
Work with partner teams such as Windows, Content Services, Office and others to deliver coordinated value.
Establish rigorous engineering processes to ensure service quality, predictable delivery of new capabilities, and continuously improving metrics.
Create scalable solutions that can be applied as a framework for solving multiple scenarios across different partners and customer topologies.
Develop a long-term technical roadmap to ensure development of the service is coordinated, maintainable, and flexible.
Develop talent and grow the team into a high performing healthy engineering organization.
Establish a positive, mutually supporting, inclusive team culture consistent with Microsoft cultural attributes, values, leadership principles and manager expectations.
Required Qualifications :
Industry expereince as a software engineer, including experience working on cloud services.
Substantial experience as an engineering manager in a technical role.
Well-developed problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of the entire software development lifecycle.
Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment workflows and tools.
Experience working on large-scale projects across divisions and landing complex but scalable architectures to meet agile business needs.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with any of the following engineering areas : scalability, compliance, performance, security, privacy, reliability, accessibility, localization, or globalization.
Deep technical understanding and a proven ability to develop successful long-term code / service architectures.
Deep understanding of testing methodologies and engineering best practices.
Experience in Azure DevOps and working across teams with different development practices.
Commitment to customer obsession in order to solve real user problems in consumer and enterprise products.
A systematic problem solver who ramps up quickly, understands complex problems, and creates solutions across many services and dependencies.
