In this position the Sales Engineer is responsible for all sales activities of designated customers (OEMs, EUs and Distributors) in order to achieve the agreed Sales, Bookings, strategic targets for the agreed product lines, solutions and services in Catalonia territory


  • Identify the market requirements and specifics, develop and execute the strategies and tactics for growth of orders and profitability.
  • Identify new business opportunities (industries, applications, customers), convert them into
  • action plans and establish measures with sales management for success.

  • Actively visit customers to promote and sell entire product portfolio and services.
  • Negotiate with Customer relevant Business Contracts within the agreed Delegation of Authority including discount, price and volume structures.
  • Drive sales and proposal strategies with the sales support organization.
  • Maintain a project opportunity list for the assigned sales area in the associated tools
  • Maximize both face to face time and other communication possibilities (telephone, e-mail, etc).
  • Oversee, ensure and personally support the execution of committed contractual terms to customers in all business transaction.
  • Continuously drive the improvement of customer satisfaction by understanding, communicating and executing solutions to their needs.
  • Maintain and continuously develop high level of products and technologies knowledge required to perform the job.
  • Report regularly to the direct supervisor on market trends, competition strategies and customer behaviors which may affect the Emerson business strategies.
  • Report on quotation & project potential through reporting mechanisms.
  • Observe the Business Ethics stipulated by Emerson.
  • Practice and promote the Think Customer culture in all aspects of the role.
  • Ensure that all transactions are properly screened and recorded in accordance with the company’s Trade Compliance procedures
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Supervisors.

  • Engineering degree or comparable technical education.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, pedagogic, good listening skills
  • Must be proficient in Spanish language, and fluent in English (read / write / speak);
  • Proactive, responsive and high-energy style.
  • General experience in the automation sales or machine design / building markets.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering and / or industrial sales environment.
  • Direct and interactive computer skills and electronic business interfaces.
  • Experience in fluid power and / or fluid control particularly pneumatics, automation, or valves preferred.
  • Field sales force, key account management, project management experience is desired.
  • Exposure or demonstrated involvement to account development with a long selling cycle
  • Be a team player willing to work with other sales people in the region and globally
  • Willing to travel
