Permanent Investment Senior Accountant

Dow and DuPont combined in a merger of equals with the intent to separate into three independent, publicly traded companies in Agriculture, Materials Science and Specialty Products.

The heritage DuPont Company is hiring qualified professionals to take on new Finance activities in order to support the business realignment and enable independent operability.

As we are still in the process of starting up the independent companies, at this time, hiring will be aligned to the heritage companies versus alignment to the intended spins.

The Corteva Company has an opening for a Permanent Investement Senior Accountant at the Finance Service Center located in Asturias, Spain.

The Permanent Investement Senior Accountant is responsible to ensure accounting activity recorded within the company's records and books is accurate and complete.

In addition this role is expected to adhere to the company's accounting policy and practices as well as the country Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).


The Permanent Investment Senior Accountant needs to have an expert understanding of the accounting set-up from an USGAAP, Tax and Statutory perspective and needs to be able to analyze complex data.

The Permanent Investment Senior Accountant is responsible to ensure that financial records, from both a USGAAP as well as from a local statutory perspective, correctly represent the current capital investment in fixed assets within our businesses and functions.

In this role you will be responsible for keeping the overview of the daily transactions processed for the region. The Permanent Investment Senior Accountant will provide accounting guidance and functional expertise to ensure quality and accuracy of all accounting / financial processes within the Permanent Investment area.

Functional responsibilities

  • Coordinate the yearly fixed asset verification process.
  • Calculate depreciation expense for budget in the standard setting process.
  • Calculate and post capitalized interest.
  • Post listing of approved status projects on CPAM website monthly.
  • Monitor capital project spending and the released to operations (RTO) dates using an escalation process.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all capital projects are entered into the Strategic Planning & Authorization Management System (SPAMS).
  • Provide accounting expertise and support for large value and complicated transactions such as mergers, divestitures and large restructuring charges related to fixed assets and understand the impact on the profit and loss.
  • Provide information on planned capital expenditures with sufficient analysis and detail to establish the basis for the corporate annual capital budget and business strategy plans.
  • Understand how fixed asset management impacts business results, e.g., depreciation expense and property taxes & insurance premiums.
  • As a Company, effective fixed asset management impacts our overall income tax and financial position.

  • Focus on constant process standardization while ensuring to be compliant with local tax and governmental laws.
  • Work with Team Leaders to ensure consistent global implementation of fixed asset procedures.
  • Educate functional partners on accounting policies and internal control matters, and advises on the potential impacts of their decisions.
  • Identify and appropriately communicate potential risks and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Resolve any problems identified as they arise.
  • Provide on-going guidance based on an analysis of the current facts and circumstances to project managers and others as appropriate in regards to certain Accounting policies and procedures related to fix assets to include, but not limited to capital versus expense decisions, capital authorization requests, proper Delegation of Authority types and amounts, capitalized interest, 3rd party funded arrangements, asset impairments, capital lease accounting and accounting for certain intangible assets.
  • Interact with Businesses, Legal Entities and Accounting Policy.
  • Execute and engage on all internal control activities defined within the function.
  • Identify financial / accounting training needs and develop / facilitate training execution.
  • Qualifications :

  • University degree in Accounting / Finance
  • Minimum 5 years of Accounting and Financial Reporting experience required
  • US GAAP and local GAAP solid knowledge is required
  • Computer literate. Good Microsoft Office skills required
  • Business proficiency in English
  • Previous experience working with SAP or any other ERP system is required
  • Additional languages will be considered a plus
