on the ground, in the sky and in space. Description of the job A position as a Manufacturing Engineer Manager has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Barajas (Madrid).

The successful applicant will join TOMSM department. This person's min mission will be : Responsible for a Manufacturing Engineering Team of up to 20 Engineers including subcontractors Provide Support with work centre forecasts and Capacity Management To provide the Manufacturing Engineering inputs, based on robust processes and procedures, for the Manufacture and production of Space System products including : Structure, Panels, Harness and Satellite Propulsion Systems.

  • Responsible for Production Schedule within Master Production Schedule Ensure the Manufacturing Engineering Team are focused on the correct priorities and processes;
  • and are working to clearly identified routines and deadlines for tasks Play a major role in Operational and Manufacturing Engineering process improvements Tasks & accountabilities The main tasks will be :

  • Translate the design into manufacturing specifications.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing structure.
  • Develop, compile and control technical instructions to manufacture the product. Define and reach an agreement with the Production about the ""as planned"" structure such as lead-
  • time, manpower feature, time, cost and quality constraints.

  • Daily personnel management ("right skill, right person, right place, right time"), succession planning, Discipline, Timekeeping, Ensuring team complete Timesheets, Team Morale and Resource Management including recruitment
  • Drive continuous development of the MAIT processes under the ME team within MAIT to meet the changing Business requirements, providing an active role in "lessons learned" to improve processes and identify problems
  • Responsible for the development and training of personnel within the Manufacturing Engineering team
  • Input to strategic Management
  • Input to new project work package set up, and input to bids for Manufacturing Engineering tasks
  • Forward load and cost Management for MAIT Manufacturing engineering
  • Conduct teams annual appraisals
  • Health & Safety Governance for the Manufacturing Engineering team
  • MAIT Barajas process ownership and governance of the documentation standards
  • Ensure Company and departmental standards and procedures are followed
  • Support implementation of manufacturing systems and hardware implementation
  • Support to Projects This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.
  • Required skills We're looking for candidates with the following skills :

  • Required Qualification level : Minimum of an Engineering level qualification in a Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production discipline.
  • A lesser qualification is acceptable if a high level of similar industry experience can be demonstrated.

  • Experience Requirement : Good understanding and detailed experience of all types of mechanical systems. Including but not limited to :
  • Lean Manufacturing Techniques including 5S, root cause analysis and continuous improvement
  • Support to production
  • Mechanical / Manufacturing Processes including detailed assembly and fitting.
  • Thermal Engineering.
  • Mechanical handling equipment.
  • English Language to a working level
  • High Manufacturing / production skills and relevant experience.
  • Procedures and process control and standards
  • Able to work offsite for undefined periods at short notice.
  • Work overtime
  • Practical and proactive.
  • Quality driven approach.
  • Experience in writing Engineering documentation
  • Good team leading abilities and high self-motivation
  • Good problem solving skills (technical, logistics and organisational)
  • Good planning skills and process competence, (Manufacturing Systems & MRP system experience an advantage).
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience of Space Products builds is a distinct advantage.
  • DESIRABLE REQUIRMENTS : Experience of Lean engineering, Clean room experience Aerospace Experience, Mech design / validation / experience, FMEA Experience, Knowledge of Continuous Improvement philosophies, Knowledge of Health and Safety principles and their application to the specific environment.
