Role Summary :
GE is looking for key engineers to develop a new segment within its Wind business where innovation and entrepreneurship are key attraction elements.
The role of this Senior Engineer for Wind Turbine systems includes modeling and aeroelastic simulation and leading System Value Optimization assessment
Essential Responsibilities :
Scope includes New Products and contributing to Application&Requisition Engineering phases of Onshore / Offshore Wind farm in the field of Load Assessment including full system dynamics down to foundation and soil interaction.
She / he interfaces with external companies and 3rd parties in the field of load simulation& certification.
Other responsibilities are :
Load assessment for NPIs and RCAs, implementing control technologies to mitigate mechanical loads & improve turbine power performance.
Drive simplification in the systems modeling, loads simulation and documentation, as well as component checks to resolve technical challenges supporting certification process along the chain from system modeling to experimental validation.
Strong support to with application & requisition engineering teams, providing solutions to enhance application space, leading MLA activities for initial projects of the Nearshore business.
Interacts with both internal / external suppliers / clients. Specifically collaborates with foundation designers to optimize the full system design and leads external consultants to develop all type of project in his scope identifying methodology & technology improvements enabling it.
Jointly with the Systems Engineering team, deploys methodologies to analyze component design driving loads and rank them to target load reduction strategies selectively.
Provides solutions in the field of simulation, operability or system trade-off recommendation to optimize the cost of energy by reducing design driving loads and maximizing the energy capture.
Work closely with the Controlled Tittle Holders community across the business and global team members to ensure high quality and consistency on system simulation techniques & practices.
Contributes to continuous improvement in methods and tools in collaboration with the AT&S team and leads process related improvements re.
interfaces with the design teams.
Qualifications / Requirements :
Master degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Renewable Energy Engineering
In depth knowledge on aeroelasticity, system dynamics and fatigue loading assessment
Experience in simultaneous engineering new product development processes.
Experience in wind turbine offshore loads simulation
Expert knowledge of Wind turbine aero elastic simulations (Flex5, Bladed, Simpack, etc.)
Effective problem identification and solving ability.
Skilled in data analysis processes and tools
Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment with flexibility beyond narrow resp. definitions
Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
Significant aeroelastic simulation experience for Wind Turbines
Desired Characteristics :
Experience dealing with outsources load assessment companies, 3rd parties and customers.
Experience in wind characterization
Experience in wind turbine control technologies, operability & validation
Expert knowledge on wind turbine component design criteria and wind turbine systems integration
Experience in wind Turbine Certification Processes
Experience in software development for system simulation tools including specifications, theory manuals and flow charts.
