An Internal Linguist is an employee whose linguistic skills have been certified as part of the hiring process and who prioritizes translation / proofreading / quality management tasks for various types of documents depending on Production needs and in accordance with their subject matter expertise.
This includes using reference materials, understanding instructions, proactively suggesting linguistic and procedural changes, and ensuring quality for client delivery.
An Internal Linguist takes responsibility for a specific account, working closely with the client / ICR and other linguists.
An Internal Linguist is also responsible for assisting PMs with the creation / update of preflight material, glossaries, amending translation memories, and providing support in client calls and meetings.
Understand TransPerfect’s quality standards and make sure they are upheld to meet the client’s expectations
Translate / review steps (proof, quality management, testing, etc) of different types of content (marketing / life sciences) and target files (Wordfast files, office documents, websites, etc.
ensuring that the instructions and directions are followed and that the quality is ready for client delivery in all steps (without grammar, punctuation and spelling errors).
Ensure correct style and tone of translated documents
Properly utilize all appropriate supplemental materials (refer to client PAQ, reference material, glossaries, etc.) making sure they are consistent throughout the jobs
Be accountable for any errors / omissions associated to a project in which they are involved
Consult with Stakeholders (Account Managers, Project Managers, external Linguists) to discuss the client’s expectations and be able to understand the instructions provided to meet the client’s expectations
Take part in calls and meetings with the client to gather feedback in direct contact to enforce the relationship with the client
Provide meaningful feedback for project-specific non-conformances, resolutions and quality of the file reviewed to PMs, external Linguists and the rest of the Internal Linguists.
Establish and maintain excellent relationships with contract translators and proofreaders globally
Personally perform project QA steps
Be proactive on the creation / update of glossaries or other reference material that might improve the final quality of the job
Maintain translation memories
Work on preflight material
Keep Stakeholders informed of project progress and communicate effectively with them
Essential skills and experience required :
Minimum Bachelor Degree Required
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English
Native Level of Russian
Valid work permit and VISA for Spain
Prior experience with marketing and / or life science contents
Cultural knowledge in both target and source language(s)
Flexibility and adaptability to the different assignments and tasks using the relevant skills and tools in each case (accuracy, creativity, terminology adequacy, etc.)
Ability to effectively multitask in order to simultaneously execute multiple projects
Organization skills. Able to prioritize. Results orientated. Self-motivation
Ability to maintain professionalism and focus under pressure and tight deadlines
Advanced problem solving / critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently
