Our client portfolio includes industrial, commercial, and government clients across multiple markets and geographies. Function and Scope As Electrical Engineer you will play a role in providing design leadership and discipline integration of projects delivered by the built Environment business.
Using technical experience and excellent people skills, you will manage projects and guide / mentor less experienced engineers to produce designs and associated deliverables for projects.
The role will provide a client facing lead for projects and ensure that Jacobs maintains the highest technical standards, levels of service and quality.
Main Responsibilities You will be responsible for :
The delivery of technical outputs of projects and the seamless sharing of information with other discipline teams;
Ensuring technical quality through implementation of best practice and continuous improvement processes;
Representing Jacobs in liaising with clients, architects and other design team members;
Develop and maintaining excellent client relationships through successful project execution;
Develop talent by coaching and mentoring less experienced staff and supporting their technical career development aspirations;
Management of project resources and reporting to the Team Principal;
Management of engineers within the team with a range of skills and experience;
Assisting in the preparation of technical and commercial bid proposals.
Communications and Working Relationships You will cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, members of regional teams across the UK and within the European Technical Network.
Externally you will be expected to work closely with external organisations within a project team and with our clients through all stages of our relationship with them.
The role will principally entail :
Design of lighting and electrical engineering services across aviation, rail, high tech, commercial and education sectors
Design of power distribution including cable sizing and protection studies.
Design lighting, Fire Alarm, security and comms systems.
Contribute to design projects across offices and internationally where required
Application of industry standard design and calculation software such as Amtech, Dialux etc
Liaising with clients, architects and other design team members.
Preparation of reports, drawings and specifications
Developing and maintaining excellent client relationships.
Project management of suitable projects
Compliance with design and QA procedures
Monitoring of installation works on site and observance of technical compliance and H&S matters
Master in Electrical Engineering.
Experience of leading a team of building services engineers
Experience of delivering major projects in the UK / Ireland and Spain, within the building services industry.
Demonstrable experience of delivering a range of projects from concept through completion
Able to design the range of building electrical services
Competent user of Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel
Familiar with UK Building Regulations and design standards for discipline
Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients, architects and other design team members and the Ability to represent Jacobs at external meetings and at presentations.
Committed to sustainable design with knowledge of current techniques and technologies as applied to own discipline and wider building services
A can do, hands on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritize workload to meet project needs
Willing and quick to adapt to project / team needs and learn from experience
Able to communicate clearly in written, sketch and drawn forms to people at all levels
