Job Summary This position is contingent upon contract award to Amentum. The award is expected 1 August 2020. All interviews and hiring will be done after award.

Amentum is actively seeking a qualified vertical launching system (VLS) task manager specializing in the maintenance, installation, test, or repair of MK 41 V LS system.

The technician will provide Fleet Technical Assistance support, system / equipment assessments, and the integrated logistics support to the VLS system and related equipment.

Essential Responsibilities : + Ability to work independently executing shipboard system troubleshooting, conducting root cause analysis of failures, performing functional and operations system and equipment assessments and inspections.

  • Provide On-Site (OS) and Distant Support (DS) technical assistance U.S. Navy ship CS and HM&E related equipment casualties and repairs.
  • Provide logistics support in instances where parts may be required or allowance parts lists (APLs) are not correct / complete.
  • Ability to provide over the shoulders and hands on training of ship's force personnel in the operation, maintenance, and logistics support of specific equipment.
  • Prepare written debriefs to ship's force and FDRMC managers or other designated Government representatives, in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR).
  • Support and use current Government software systems to track problems associated with equipment / systems, and for system analysis, including Tech Assist, Assessments & Scheduling Information (TAAS-Info) and Maintenance Figure of Merit / Navy Maintenance Database (MFOM / NMD) systems.
  • Minimum Requirements + Vocational / technical training beyond high school + Within the last ten (10) years must have both : + a minimum four (4) years full-time hands-on technical experience in the assessment, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS).

  • a minimum of two (2) years full-time technician experience leading maintenance, installation, test, or repair of MK 41 VLS.
  • Must possess and submit proof of a current VLS System Maintenance Technician (SMT) certification (Navy Enlisted Classification code 0981) obtained in accordance with NAVSEA Standing Instruction 86-2B.
  • The SMT certificate must be current. + Must have a minimum of three (3) years of "journeyman level" experience within the last five (5) years in each and every of the following : + Independently worked on or lead a team of technicians troubleshooting, repairing or testing of U.

    S. Navy shipboard systems. + Independently worked on or lead a team accomplishing formal material condition assessments and inspections such as, Total Ship Readiness Assessment (TSRA), Integrated Class Maintenance Plans (ICMP), Inspections and Surveys (INSURVs) of ship systems and equipment of U.

    S. Navy systems. + Communicating the findings of U.S. Navy systems troubleshooting / assessments with official reports + Use of the following, or similar, workload databases : + Microsoft Office products + Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) + Minimum of read access rights on Electronic Departure From Specifications (eDFS) and TAAS-Info.

  • Position requires the ability to work onboard US Navy ships and access ship repair industrial facilities. + Positions will be located in Rota, Spain and will require travel in and around the Mediterranean, Europe, Africa and Arabian Gulf regions.
  • Position requires an active Security Clearance and ability to obtain a Common Access Card. Preferred Qualifications EOE including Disability / Protected Veterans.
