Job description
IDIADA is seeking a vehicle dynamics test engineer for a new tyre development project.
Collaborating with the project manager and technicians, the test engineer will be responsible of the following tasks :
Assess the performance of the vehicle in terms of ride and handling capability focused on tyre contribution.
Tune and select tyres in order to reach the performance targets established by the client.
Perform regular joint test sessions with the client to assess the vehicle performance and the progress towards the targets.
Report the results of tyre tuning and / or evaluation activities.
Supervise the test technicians during the preparation of test vehicles, ensuring the fulfilment of technical and safety
procedures.
Give support to the project manager for the planning of testing activities.
Requirements
Degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with specialization in automotive engineering.
Significant experience in vehicle dynamics testing, particularly in tyre development : Tyre evaluation and tyre selection.
Very good knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles and automotive technologies in general.
Excellent driving skills. Ability to drive consistently the vehicle and characterize the vehicle behavior from a sensitive point of view.
Ability to control the vehicle at or above grip limit, on any type of surfaces. Experience on Nurburgring racetrack is an asset.
Client-oriented mindset, used to work with automotive OEMs and Tier-One suppliers.
Logical thinker with good problem-solving skills and the ability to promote pragmatic solutions.
A confident and diplomatic communicator both internally and directly with the client.
Excellent proficiency in German (both written and oral), native is an asset.
Excellent proficiency in English (both written and oral).
Other languages are beneficial, particularly Spanish.
