Twilio is growing rapidly and seeking a Senior Manager to lead an SRE team in the Flex BU (business unit). Flex, the first fully programmable cloud contact center, is a platform product that integrates both native Twilio services as well as serving up a pluggable infrastructure that allows partners and customers to extend and customize the platform for their unique needs.

Ensuring a quality operating environment that is setting the standard for SRE principles of eliminating toil, establishing and achieving SLOs, and ensuring monitoring and observability to support emergency response is critical to the success of Flex as we continue to scale.

This new role sits within the Flex product BU and will support the acceleration of SRE goals for the BU and align and influence broader Twilio goals in the SRE field.

In this role, you will build and lead a team developing automated tooling and improving overall operational capabilities of the BU.

This role is critical in leading the acceleration towards a world class operating environment.

Who?

Twilio is looking for a leader who lives the Twilio Magic and has a demonstrated track record of building horizontal platforms that support product teams.

  • Experience leading teams to collaborate across multiple geographies, leading development, configuration, deployment, and operations for SRE / DevOps teams.
  • Operational experience in complex distributed systems, including defining, measuring and monitoring SLO / SLAs towards high availability and reliability goals.
  • Experience operating large scale Java-based systems in production across multiple regions or data centers in a cloud platform or enterprise scale environment.
  • Breadth of DevOps experience in building tools and frameworks, with an understanding of continuous deployment processes.
  • Ability to think at scale, bringing a focus on continuous delivery methodologies from design through deployment and operations.
  • Experience building and managing systems with tools including Kubernetes, Chef / Ansible / Puppet, Kafka, Docker, and Terraform.
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience including 3+ years leading a team in a DevOps / SRE environment.
