Telefónica Open Future Initiative is the program under which Telefónica Open Innovation Unit develops alliances with public and private partners in order to support talent and find best innovative solutions to bring into Telefónica Group.
Together with Wayra and Telefonica Innovation Investments, is one of the tools in Telefonica to engage with startups.
As their preferred strategic partner, we design acceleration and scale up programs with public and private partners to support local startups in early phases in the Open Future hubs, which offer working space, mentoring, access to exclusive offers from commercial partners and other benefits.
As of today, there are more than 40 Open Future Hubs in Europe and Latin America.
Open Future is an important tool for Telefónicas OBs in order to position Telefonica as innovation driver in front of local goverments and accelerate commercially the relationship with them.
In addition, Telefónica Open Innovation Unit and the different OBs leverage Open Future infrastructure to reach the best startups, which gain access to Telefónica's tech expertise and to our customers and clients.
We also offer a unique and effective interface between our network of corporates, governments and other partners in countries in which Telefonica is present.
Telefónica Open Innovation currently operates in 16 countries spread over three continents and have a portfolio of hundreds of start-ups across the globe.
The mission is clear : to develop programs with local governments that enable innovators to connect with Telefónica, such local goverments and their stakeholders, and generate joint business opportunities that drive adoption and accelerate development.
Developing these Hubs with local governements has become a essential tool for Telefonica's operating business in order to differentiate their offer for public bodies, enabling the perception of Telefónica not only as a telecoms provider but as a strategic partner and innovation provider.
OF initiative has a strong communication component to ensure our innovative positioning as thought leaders and foster culture shift company wide.
Creating and managing our brand awareness both internally and externally, is key. All this, in search of business value for Telefonica.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
For Open Future Madrid and TrenLab programme : 1) Execution and supervision of 2 yearly calls for selecting startups. Scouting process, application analysis, interviews and selection comittees.
2) Design personalized and standard acceleration programmes for the startups. 3) Constant follow-up during 6 months for around 10 startups : weekly meetings with the startups, scouting of mentors and experts, matching of startups needs, link between fit & investment teams at Wayra.
3) Creation of metrics dashboard to follow-up the best startups of Gran Via Open Future and Database. Financial analysis of the portfolio.
4) Events production and participation in the startup ecosystem. 5) Contact with alumni startups to improve Open Future community.
6) Supervision and Proposal of open innovation partnerships for Spain. 7) Relationship manager of the partner for the open innovation.
8) Support the global Open Future team to implement strategy and operations
NATURE OF PROBLEMS & CHALLENGES
Deadlines challenging, stakeholders & process management. Link between corporate and startups
Leadership in working with multidisciplinary teams. Result driven and with an independent and autonomous profile. Proactivity.
Understanding of the entrepreneurial ecosystems, general technnical knowledge. Institutional relationships capacity, Public speaking experience.
5+ years performing the functions described in similar projects (project management, commercial areas, strategy, global roles).
Fluent in English and Spanish, both oral and written. Portuguese is a plus.
