The Analyst, Data Science is a critical team member within our growing Global Business Intelligence organization. The Analyst will focus on developing data driven models to address project specific objectives with immediate and long-term impact.

  • This includes gathering and scoping requirements; working with complex datasets; building statistical and econometric models;
  • and effectively communicating findings to stakeholders. He / She will maintain a broad understanding of the marketplace, Ingram Micro’s business model, and become educated on particular vendors, customers, or internal division’s business models and needs.

    Analysis and Reporting (60%)

    Requirements Gathering and Model Building : Understand client’s objectives and translate business needs into the appropriate technical models.

  • Develop and Estimate Models : Collect, transform, and clean data from multiple sources; build / maintain relational databases;
  • develop appropriate statistical and econometric models; estimate models; perform statistical tests; interpret and review output;
  • ensure results and models accurately address question of interest and capture real-world market dynamics.

  • Support Vector Machines
  • Multiple Nominal Logistic Regressions, linear regressions
  • Features extraction, attributes selection
  • Clustering, decision and model trees
  • Numerical optimization (linear and nonlinear) with constraints
  • Experimental Design
  • Multiple Dimensional Scaling
  • Neural Network
  • Conjoint / Discrete Choice
  • Price optimization, price elasticity / demand modeling
  • Text mining on structured and unstructured data, sentiment analysis
  • Communication (20%)

    Delivery : Effectively listen, communicate, recommend, and present data analytic solutions to internal and external clients.

    This includes over the phone, video conference, and in person presentations. Shifts : Willing to work overlap shifts with US time zones (PST) for effective interfacing with other managers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) abroad.

    Program Organization and Execution (20%)

    Work closely with team leads and project managers to communicate roadmaps, project milestones, status of deliverables, modeling outputs, risks, and client communication needs


    Formal education or training required such as degrees, courses of study, certification :

    Advanced degree (Bachelors, Masters or PhD) in a strongly quantitative field such as : Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Econometrics

    Bachelors degree with at least 6 years of Experience or

    MS degree with at least three years of quantitative analysis experience in business intelligence or pricing metrics or PhD degree desired :

    He or she needs to have experience in analysis of large data sets, identifying trends and patterns, and effectively communicating both internally and externally.

    Familiar with tools for data mining, statistics, analysis, and scripting (e.g., R, SAS, Scala, MATLAB, Python).

    Experience with cleaning, aggregating, and pre-processing data from varied sources. Experience with SQL.

    Good communications skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with internal and external contacts.

    Must have managed at least one project in which a relational database was built and utilized for analysis.

    Experience with SQL to aggregate, gather and manipulate data

    Experience working with large raw data sets

    Advanced Microsoft SQL Server, Access and Excel experience

    Ability to Troubleshoot and Identify Data Issues

    Run SQL Queries regarding data, as needed

    Comfortable manipulating, transforming, and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources

    Able to independently scope the data need, tools and analytics to solve business questions as defined, and make recommendations collaboratively with business leaders using the output of the data.

    Drive Workflow to manage data

    Creates data definitions to allow for consistency of data

    Troubleshoots any errors that may occur as a result of data input

    Participates and / or directs the creation and approval of policies or SOP’s related to the maintenance of data in the system

    Exceptional empirical and analytical skills, detail-oriented approach with hands on experience on analytical tools; e.g, R, SAS, Python, SQL, STATA, Matlab, SPSS, etc

    Knowledge in Machine learning techniques like Supervised and Unsupervised Learning, Clustering, Classification, Regularization Methods, Imputation Methods, SVM, Regression Trees is desired
