Insights & Solutions is a new team within GP, focused on co-creating, delivering, implementing and enhancing solutions for complex business challenges and opportunities.

Some of these challenges might revolve around the implementation of digitized and digitalized labs, increased buying experience and improving researchers’ activities.

We work by connecting external market capabilities to internal Roche needs, co-creating innovative external market offerings, and providing market insights and intelligence.

We are looking for one Senior Market Solution Manager to join our exciting and new Global R&D Insights and Solutions Team.

We are looking to recruit an outstanding candidate in either Basel, Penzberg, Mannheim, Madrid or Welwyn. Successful candidates are expected to spend the majority of their working time on campus.

Successful candidates residing outside Basel are expected to regularly travel to Basel for approximately 10% of their working time

As the Market Solution Manager for Research & Development Solutions, you will work in a dynamic global environment to help the business to address and implement complex challenges by bringing in new market opportunities.

You will work alongside the business and with our Productivity, Market Intelligence, Tech&Digital and Customer Excellence teams to understand business challenges and help the business to scout, implement, run and enhance Research and Development solutions.

As a new team, it is envisioned that the initial focus areas within Research & Development Solutions revolve around the enhancement of the R&D Laboratory Ecosystem and lab automation (data and robots).

However, this focus area may evolve based on future market opportunities and changing customer needs and priorities.

Your key responsibilities include

As a Market Solutions Manager, you will play a variety of roles according to your experience, knowledge, and general requirements, including but not limited to :

  • In collaboration with the business and with various GP teams, you will drive and coordinate all steps required for the development of R&D solutions, including but not limited to ideation, scouting, support of concept creation, proof of concept, scaling and cross-fertilization of solutions to the wider Roche community;
  • You will act as a domain knowledge and subject matter expert, providing input, advice, and know-how in the market analysis framework and network - while assessing the complex niche requests that get raised to create a broader overview of business trends;
  • You will develop and lead the identification, refinement, and risk management of frameworks, tools, and realization approaches, using an in-depth understanding of the business portfolio to build a strategy to shift from procurement-focused insights to proactively attenuating the needs of the business directly;
  • You will advocate and influence, focused on leading and advising across business stakeholders to align on and co-create solutions to connect procurement and business questions to market knowledge;
  • You will be responsible for creating, maintaining and nurturing GP and Roche-wide collaborations, for instance by promoting cross-functional, cross-division working teams, bringing prioritization, consistency and strategic direction.

    Who you are

    You hold a Master degree in life science, computer science, computer engineering, engenieering or business. Higher degrees are a strong plus.

    You also have 7+ years within either research operation, Digital&Tech, Data&Analytics, IT, procurement and / or consulting, ideally in a matrix organization.

    You also demonstrated success in building and cultivating collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    Moreover, ideal candidates have :

  • In-depth experience with either Research operations, Research or Lab ecosystems, Digital&Tech or Data&Analytics;
  • Have demonstrated experience delivering strategies, market expertise, and innovation across R&D categories or markets;
  • Demonstrated success in building and cultivating collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Navigated across ambiguous areas in a flexible, matrix, and rapidly changing environment;
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML); successful candidates have demonstrated capabilities to make these skills useful for researchers in the form of process improvement solutions;
  • Business level fluency in English; other languages are a plus;
  • In addition :

  • You strive to act as an enterprise thinker and leverage knowledge and expertise to create solutions for business customers by proactively fostering collaboration, including across the procurement network;
  • You are action-oriented and can make decisions and influence others to do the same; you repurpose work and ideas in favor of starting from scratch;
  • You demonstrate curiosity, active listening, and a willingness to experiment and test new ideas when appropriate, with the focus very much on continuous learning and improvement;
  • You work with colleagues across procurement, business, and the wider Roche organization to broaden knowledge and expertise, better understand customer needs, and connect the dots;
  • You are open-minded and inclusive, generously sharing ideas and knowledge while being receptive to ideas and feedback from others
