The role of the Symantec Senior Network Protection Consultant involves a mixture of many skills, from solutions design and delivery, to trusted client advisor.
The Senior Consultant will have over 5 years of demonstrated experience implementing technical network protection consulting engagements including strategy development, solution design, IT, security, business process assessments and organizational design.
A successful qualified candidate will need to have experience in a variety of cyber security technologies, but will have a focus on Symantec’s Network Protection products.
This position completes the technical aspects of a proposed business solution within the client’s environment, and often works with a Project Manager on for-
fee product design, implementation, enhancement, and integration projects. The Senior Consultant will work with an extended on-
site and off-site team to develop and maintain a solid network security infrastructure for enterprise clients.
Travel (50-60%) to customer site designing, installing and deploying Symantec solutions as outlined by the statement of work
Ability to communicate effectively in crisis situations with all levels of an organization from Engineering / Operations to CIO / CISO audiences
Ensure customer needs are met and deliverables produced on time according to the specified scope
Leads and coaches other technical resources (internal and partners) account / engagement and practice
Develops and maintains a broad knowledge and understanding across Symantec’s Network Protection product lines and the related adjacent and competitive technologies
Presents the Symantec technical strategy coherently and consistently to a technical and business audience
Participates in the development and rollout of new offerings
Contributes to the identification of new Consulting Services offerings, methodologies, and intellectual capital
May coach and mentor practice members and provide oversight to engagements to which they are deployed including escalation management as required
Supports Consulting Leadership on aspects of resource planning including skills and capacity mapping
Ability to use professional concepts to contribute to development of company concepts and principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.
BA / BS in Computer Science, MIS, business, or equivalent education / training / experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum 5 years’ experience with IDS / IPS solutions and technologies
Minimum 5 years’ experience deploying and troubleshooting Symantec security solutions in large environments
Minimum 3 years’ experience managing security solutions in large environments
Extensive knowledge of network and protocol troubleshooting and analysis
Strong understanding of operating systems (UNIX or LINUX and Windows OS)
Strong understanding of Internet protocols and applications
Detailed technical experience in the installation, configuration and operation of high end security solutions
Ability to : effectively translate customer requirements into scope, effort and deliverableseffectively juggle and manage many different tasks simultaneouslywork in a multi-
cultural environment, with very reduced local team onsite contact
Fluent in Spanish and English other European languages are a benefit
Travel required (up to 60%)
Occasional weekend work required
Residence in Spain or Portugal
Desirable Requirements :
Symantec Network Protection Certification (e.g. BCCPA, BCCPP)
Relevant Industry and Vendor Certification (e.g. CISSP, CCSP, CompTIA Security, PMP, Prince2)
