The NeuroprotectionLab group, located at the Pharmacology department of the Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and the Teófilo Hernando Institute for Drug R&D () are looking for candidates interested in applying to the Talent Attraction call of the Community of Madrid (Modality 1), scheduled for the first fortnight of December 2020.
the study of the mechanism of action of already commercialized drugs or the repositioning of drugs using big data techniques for the virtual screening of large chemistry libraries.
Neurodegenerative diseases share common pathophysiological mechanisms; in this context we want to understand the interrelationships between the innate immune system of the CNS, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress and protein degradation systems (with special emphasis on autophagy systems) in neurodegenerative processes.
We have in vitro and in vivo models to address these objectives as well as infrastructure at the laboratory and institution level that allow us to do excellent research.
We also collaborate with various groups of medical chemists through which we can design and evaluate new chemical structures.
At the moment we are willing to incorporate young and motivated researchers who can develop an excellent research and teaching career in our institution in the future.
During the first stage of consolidation, the candidate would join a multidisciplinary group with a trajectory of more than 20 years in the identification of new targets and development of neuroprotective drugs.
The group's IP is Manuela G. Lopez (
