Your role

Customer-facing sales team representative working with an Account Manager / Account Director focused on Telefonica account in Spain.

Perform technical tasks, including written proposals, network design and engineering and quotes. Must be able to communicate solutions to customers and manage ongoing technical relationship.

Also work with internal Ciena organization


Network and applications engineering for CIENA products

Consult with current customer on application of CIENA products for next generation architectures

Complete network designs for customer application of CIENA networking products

Drive introduction of new concepts / features into customer networks

Influence Customer requirements and translate high-level customer requirements into Ciena system requirements

Expertise in using network design and modelling tools

Prepare quotations and assist in proposal preparation for all CIENA products using internal tools

Provide product and technical expertise to support Sales efforts of transmission, switching and data products and SDN Management systems

Prepare design and applications presentations

Review quotes, RFx's, Product presentations and forecasts

Serve as a technical resource for customer related issues

Interface with sales group and product management / marketing to develop and / or propose product enhancements to meet customer requirements


Solid understanding in fibre optic transmission systems (SDH / OTN / WDM), telecommunication networks and network management

Technical knowledge in data networking including understanding of IP / Ethernet and other data networking protocols

Technical knowledge of Software Defined Networking, network orchestration and Network Function Virtualization

Good degree of presentation, interpersonal and communications skills

Proven ability to work in a team oriented environment

Ability to respond to RFP’s and communicate technical quotations accurately

General knowledge of computers and application programs (e.g. MS Office)

Flexible, able to handle multiple tasks

Native Spanish speaker and fluent in English


Highly motivated technical individual that desires to work on application of advanced transport architectures

Ability to understand customer needs and use technical expertise to develop customer solutions

Ability to develop customer relationships and work well with customers

Flexible individual that is able to handle multiple tasks

Team player

Technical Degree, BSEE or equivalent

Minimum of 4 years telecommunications industry experience

Prior experience as a contributor on a sales account team
