An open minded, multidisciplinary and ready to learn young engineer with very good human communication skills and patience is required for this position.
This engineer must have the correct background for the job (computer science, computer hardware and software applications / systems and networks administration) but will need to be ready to learn everything about FLIR’s firmware and software technology and about each Customer’s application, and to some extent have a good understanding of FLIR’s camera products and IR technology.
Under the direction of our Professional Services Manager, in close collaboration with our Engineering and Software Development departments, this position shall create excellent human and professional relationships with the different sales and service organizations in FLIR, and handle support cases with their Customers.
On site professional services in the form of integration support, training or system configuration for Customers, with frequent international travel and weeklong stays abroad are involved.
Occasional support to field demonstrations or trade shows may be also required. FNS Applications Engineers are also responsible for installing and maintaining our demo equipment, testing, and taking care of shipments and exports.
Produces documentation and supports FNS products. He will be responsible for testing new product releases, as well as for debugging and narrowing reported support issues before passing them to our R&D departments.
Duties will include significant time at the phone with FLIR’s EMEA sales representatives and international Customers, writing emails and technical quotations, reporting and Project Management documentation.
System administration responsibilities, installing and maintaining own hardware and software platforms may be required. Detailed Description : Technical pre / after-
sales support : email, phone or on-site services. Product testing, debugging and documentation (manuals and tech notes). Install software, configure systems, sustaining of demo assets.
produce acceptance documentation, manage shipments and export documentation. Report engineering costs and man-hours according to FNS procedures.
Intermediate engineering degree or bachelor in Telecommunications or Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Electronics.
Must be able to communicate fluently, both orally and in writing, using the English language in Job required skills. Experience in imaging / instrumentation SDK programming platforms required.
Experience in training, helpdesk or professional services duties desired. Lab experience with imaging systems, computers and networking desired.
Experience in military or security & surveillance, or IT system administration desired. Teaching vocation with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
Efficiency in narrowing problems and identifying configuration issues. Patience with Customers and ability to move frustration to solutions.
Strong Communication Skills - written and verbal required ensuring that communications are clearly understood and interpret what and why information is being communicated.
Collaboration & Teamwork required serving different engineering, software development and sales teams and interfacing the various support groups.
Flexibility required ensuring the ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements and workload re-prioritization. Coping : Successfully able to stay focused, calm and cool with multiple demands and / or deadlines from superiors, subordinates and peers while maintaining focus on demanding deadlines and changing priorities.
Strong Organization, Planning & Execution skills are required to develop and execute, plan and maintain responsibilities, schedules, and maximize personal productivity.
