We are looking for a highly skilled Credit Analyst to join our Corporate Ratings group as an Associate Director within the Chemicals, Materials & Construction, South Africa team, primarily focused on a portfolio of European building material and construction companies.
The person needs to be preferably Madrid based but we would also consider Paris and / or Frankfurt where a concentration of issuers is based.
The Credit Analyst, Associate Director will conduct credit analysis on European Corporates combined with strong communication and client interaction skills.
Exposure to building materials or construction industry is a plus.
Take responsibility for ratings on a portfolio of about 15 credits as a primary analyst with no or minimal supervision in the building materials / construction sectors.
Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly pick up credit surveillance on allocated credits.
Perform credit analysis by demonstrating the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect an issuer's credit rating.
Analyze original, non-routine complex business problems on a timely, orderly and insightful manner.
Actively participate in rating committees and have or acquire voting rights within a few months after having joined. Perform periodic portfolio reviews in conjunction with the rest of the team.
Develop and maintain an understanding of industry trends and issues the global building materials / construction industry, and contribute to S&P’s global industry focus groups.
Attend meetings and interact with senior management of corporations to represent S&P’s views and opinions and obtain information upon which to base credit rating decisions.
Prepare a variety of material suitable for publication on S&P Global Ratings’ credit portal and other media (such as rating reports, press releases, and detailed commentaries) sufficient to disseminate and explain our ratings on a timely basis.
The Team :
The Credit Analyst, Associate Director will benefit from being part of pan-European team with other team members being based in Milan and Paris, he / she would be responsible for the surveillance of a portfolio of about 15 credits.
The successful candidate will be comfortable in an environment which stimulates continuous improvement and innovation, and the highest customer service standards whilst adhering to established ratings criteria, methodology, policies and procedures.
Your Skills :
Solid, demonstrable experience with an investment bank, investing institution or an audit company with some exposure to capital markets, or a commercial bank with involvement in the area of building materials / construction.
Preferably 7 years of credit analysis experience.
Have strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts.
Experience of analyzing issue level documentation and be numerate and accurate with figures and detail orientated with the ability to maintain accuracy whilst complying with deadlines.
Be educated to degree level in a relevant business related field, a relevant Master’s degree, CFA or financial qualification would be desirable.
